Does anyone here remember R.Budd Dwyer, the politician who committed suicide on national TV during a press conference?
Only secondarily through Filter’s “Hey Man Nice Shot!”
Yeah. A sick, sad man that hurt others as he decided to ditch his mortal coil. I’ll pray for his soul.
He was a Republican in the Pennsylvania State Senate, representing the state’s 50th District.
I ask because I’ve never heard of a Politian killing themselves on national TV.

I saw the unedited tape. He ate a S&W .357 right there in front if a bunch of reporters.

At the time, one of the local TV stations showed the video and caught heck for it. He was PA treasurer at the time, if I recall correctly.
I recall it very well since I had not left for Texas. I saw it live on channel 11 in Pittsburgh. The other stations, when they did the replays, edited out the shot but channel 11 kept it in, showing the whole thing. I think there was one station over in Philly that showed the whole thing. It’s on Youtube.
I saw it on YouTube and I was flabbergasted.
It didn’t seem real. It was like something out of a movie.
Isn’t that the most powerful handgun?
I believe Channel 11 only showed the actual shooting in an early broadcast. By the evening news the footage was edited so the suicide wasn’t shown.

I remember it well...I was a Senior in HS in PA at the time, taking a few courses part time at a local university. A few years later, I dated a gal whose dad was a speech writer in Harrisburg, and had been in the front row at Dwyer’s presser. My GFs dad had been deeply traumatized by the experience.

He blew his brains out live on TV.
I was slightly amused when someone in the crowd started hollering, 'Somebody get a doctor!'
There are a few that I’d pay to watch on pay per view if they’d off themselves.
A couple of more powerful ones have come out since then, the .454 Casull and the S&W .500.
