According to Enstars on Saturday, Peter Jackson's third film "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies", has fans petitioning for the plot to take a different route than that of the J.R.R. Tolkien book. The first major change that was announced with the movie title which was originally "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" and now fans are demanding to change the outcome of Thorin Oakenshield's destiny.

Jackson's change to the title was motivated by the appropriateness of the film as he kept up with it during its course. The director thought since Bilbo was already "there" at the destination of The Lonely Mountain in "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug", it just didn't seem to be the right fit considering the circumstances of Bilbo. Now "The Battle of the Five Armies" title seems to be an accurate representation of the events about to transpire in the third film.

Spoiler Alert!

He changed the name because Bilbo doesn’t go home again. He moves to Minnesota.

If they want to rewrite the book they are no “fans”.

It’s due to women ape over the lead actor. They completely miss the deeper meaning of Thorin’s descent into greed, and his redemption although it cost him his life.

IOW, they aren’t looking at Thorin Oakinshield, warrior and fallen king, they are looking at #ThorinHot.

I’d tell the “fans” to take their petition and shove it.

"If they want to rewrite the book they are no “fans”."

I wish someone had said that to Peter Jackson before he decided to rewrite it.

True, that.

Bombadil was one of the most intriguing characters. He and Goldberry inhabited something other than middle-earth and the three ages. Bombadil was from the beginning, but the beginning of Arda? Was he one of the Valar? As far as Peter Jackson, he added characters which made no sense other than commercially, but I don't think he'd change the ending. Whatever would be do with Dain? Send him back to the Iron Mountains?

I refuse to watch another Peter Jackson film after he destroyed the King Kong francise.

No not the filmography, effects or the brilliance of andy serkis. That aspect was wonderful. No it was the PC, anti man, pro pedophiles homo, anti capitalist, whites are evil racism and a weak faggy plot line with metrosexual heroes that destroyed it.

He is on my ship list along with James Cameron

Nine whole hours and no mention of Tom Bombadil

I kept wondering "Where in the heck is Tom Bombadil, too?"

I don't want Laketown to get destoyed either.

Can I petiton to change that too? Or Thorin Letting Greed get the best of him?

I mean it's not like Tolkien Spelled that out or antyhing.

The King beneath the mountains, The King of carven stone, The lord of silver fountains Shall come into his own!

His crown shall be upholden, His harp shall be restrung, His halls shall echo golden To songs of yore re-sung.

The woods shall wave on mountains And grass beneath the sun; His wealth shall flow in fountains And the rivers golden run.

The streams shall run in gladness, The lakes shall shine and burn, All sorrow fail and sadness At the Mountain-king's return!

Nooooo!

That ruins the whole ending, with its connections to the death of Beowulf and how everything is going to go downhill from there, heroic-myth-wise.

I like the movie Thorin as well as any healthy middle-aged lady, but dang it, he’s supposed to be a white-bearded bicentenarian.

Eddard Stark Gets Killed too (who is consequently also played by Sean Bean)

Should that have been changed?
