I gave up watches decades ago.

I'd rather wear a watch than be tethered to a phone.
It's just too easy to ignore people that are right in front of you when you have easy access to a "cool" phone.

(Plus there's the cool factor of pocket-watches; I lost mine in a move — maybe I should get a new one…)

I’ve gone back to wearing a watch as a way of freeing myself from my phone. No way I want my phone on my wrist!

I have my grandfather’s silver pocket watch made by Illinois....used to be a very accurate watch with good resolution on the dial and second hand. However, the speed adjustment inside is max to the fastest time and it’s still slow. I guess the spring is worn out. I’d get it fixed if there were some who could fix it, but most jewelers today can’t really do that kind of work, or don’t want to.

I’m mostly retired now and don’t really feel ‘tethered’.

I am especially happy when my two youngest grand daughters (the third, oldest is 10 now and not so much into it - with me anyway) are allowed to play with mommy’s iPhone and I get texts, calls, and Facetimes from them.

My ‘internal’ clock is really about all I need. Wake up automatically at 4 AM every morning....the rest of the time? Don’t really need it per se. There’s too much time all around us every day now. Computers, phones, radio, TV etc..

I look at it this way - Obama and his entire government ignore deadlines, red lines and fine lines so why should I give it any more attention than they?

I can hear the conversation in the R&D department brainstorming meetings now. Well we screwed up royally with Windows 8 so what can we create next that will be a real winner? Seriously they need to get back to what they used to be fairly decent at which was creating Operating Systems. They can start with undoing the mess they created with W8.

My basic cell phone has a clock, calendar, stop watch, Alarm, camera, texting, a browser I can't see to use, music player, and can be uploaded and downloaded on my computer. Why would I need a Winders Watch? LOL Are they counting on almost MS cult fans who would by a number 2 wooden pencil if it had the MS logo on it?

Nice. I work on the Internet all day, so I try to minimize my connected time otherwise.

Yeah, smartphones struck a death blow to watches both cheap and expensive. Wanna know the time, look at your phone.
