I've been on this one:

It is the bridge across Royal Gorge in Colorado it is 960 feet to the river below.

In the middle of the bridge when I was there many years ago were a couple of these signs:

Everybody who ain’t a Yooper is a troll.

It’s a fun climb. My brother and I rode our bicycles across the UP. We wanted to cross the Cut River but it was closed for repairs so we had to do the detour.

no, it's on the Thruway crossing the Hudson going into the city... it's almost the widest past of the Tappen Zee and NEVER, EVER, should have been built there in the first place when there a much narrower places to have built it but as always, follow the money and of course now it has to be replaced but NO chance of moving it to a better location

How about #6 and seeing how fast an F1 car would go before it “unloaded” on grip ? (coming into the view)

no lie... and that sucker must be loads of fun in the winter snow and ice, but it is Norway so they prolly do several orders of magnitude better job of keeping it passable than anything here in NY

I’ve long wanted to do a coffetable photo book titled “Troll’s-Eye View”, consisting of straight-and-centered shots under bridges looking one end to the other.

“3) Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Ireland

Rope bridges were fine ways to traverse open space, say 500 years ago. But even then, people were wisely opting to build firmer structures out of stone and other more solid, stronger ingredients. However, the news apparently didn’t get residents of County Antrim in northern Ireland who wanted an easy, non-boat option to reach the island of Carrickarede.

So they came up with a narrow pedestrian bridge 60 feet long and about 90 feet above the land and water. But even this one looks iffy especially with any kind of breeze or squall, both of which are common weather happenings in coastal communities.

Only eight people are allowed on it at any one time to keep it from getting overloaded. If you’re in any kind of hurry to get there, the smart choice seems to go by boat. Word is that many people who try crossing it once opt for the boat for the return trip as well.”

I have walked across this bridge several different times, both ways. Never opted for the boat. And I have been on it when there were at least 10 people on it at the same time.

As they say in Ireland, ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’ and it’s a long way down if this bridge were to fail!

Been on 3 of them; Deception Pass, as my brother was stationed at Whidbey Is. and Royal Gorge, here in Colorado, and 7-mile in FL.

The “Old Bridge” between Kennewick and Pasco WA, was much scarier than any of those. Very narrow 2 lane, with traffic running 50 to 60 mph, although posted at 40. It’s been gone 30 years now.

I rode over seven mile bridge on my old Harley. Loved it! I was horrified driving over the Tampa monster and will never cross it again. Likewise the Huey Long bridge. I would drive as far as it takes to avoid that nightmare. The Golden Gate was scary, but cool enough to offset the fear. I don’t like high bridges. Nope. Not a bit!

Glad you posted that - I was going to. I went across that sucker in about 1968. IIRC it sways and you can look through the boards down to the Colorado. Crazy and well worth it.

I was stuck in traffic at the base of the Lake Charles Bridge on I-10. There was a wreck right at the very top of the bridge a semi was literately hanging off the bridge. The hook an ladder had to be swung to pull the driver out of the cab. It was UFB. Approaching that bridge it looks like it shoots straight up.
