One of the more unusual projects being pitched at this year’s Cannes Film Festival is “The Vanishing Act,” Indian director Rupesh Paul’s drama based on missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370.

On Saturday afternoon, Paul presented his film idea to financiers with a 90-second teaser trailer, which features a cast of terrified passengers aboard a turbulent jetliner. He also had a poster with the tag line, “The untold story of the vanished Malaysian flight.”
After Flight 370 disappeared on March 8, Paul said that he was contacted by a Malaysian journalist with a theory about what happened. Paul then spent 20 days working on a screenplay with an ending that incorporated this idea. According to Paul, the journalist, who insists on anonymity for now, is one of the film’s investors.

I don’t know if this movie will go anywhere.
I was following CNN every day for the first month. Now I really don’t care about flight 370. Not even a little.
If it is found, that will bring the subject back up. Depending on what is found to have happened, the movie will either be right or it will be completely wrong.
I think this movie is (very) premature.

Yeah, but who decided they’d cheap out on ~$10 worth of software to keep track of a multigazillion dollar plane? Who does that? You’d think insurance would either demand it or give them a huge break for having it.

The entire series was a prequel to itself.
Seriously: as soon as you get used to the fact that every episode is mostly flashback about how the characters got to where they are, they go back in time. Then they start having falshbacks in the past. Then those flashbacks have flashbacks.
Will Obama play the lead role of the Pilot?
