For all you talk radio fans, driven nuts by the Kars-4-Kids, anti-bullying, starving kids, etc etc etc PSA ads: what are your least favorite, most hated of these sadistic brain-assaults?

My vote for the worst commercial of all time, PSA or not, was a PSA venereal disease commercial from the late 1960’s. It featured the song “VD is for Everybody”. Some kids thought that they could be cool or beautiful if they could get this VD thing, whatever it was. The commercial seemed to almost imply that you could be walking down the street one day and “Whammo” you get VD.
Here are the lyrics:

Not just for the few.

That anyone can get VD.
That’s what it’s all about.
Honorable mention for worst commercial of all time goes to an early 1970’s Kroger Christmas commercial. Kids all dressed up in red and green holding candles and singing, “’Tis the season to be sharing. Let’s go Krogering, for the best of everything.” I didn’t go Krogering for a long, long time after that.

I wish I could remember the name of the group/organization promoting it, but for me it’s the one with the woman showing the guy how to use the internet to search for jobs. When he says, “Those are all for ME?” he sounds positively mentally retarded.
The anti-smoking ones are the worst. As a former smoker, none of them worked on me as I was convinced that I didn’t smoke that much.
YES!!!! That one...and the woman with the bratty kid...with her whiny voice, I’d slam the door too. Oh, and kars 4 kids.
I gotta hand it to George Takei... He is comfortable spoofing on himself and acknowledging how Howard Stern made something of this whole “Oh, my!” soundbite.
Non-24 ads are on TV-—I’ve seen them several times.

What really annoys me is the hand of Big Brother in this. Why do radio stations run them? Is this part of retaining their operating license? Ingratiating themselves with the regime? A combination? Are they trying to drive us insane?
Smokey Da Bear telling the kid.. “9 out 10 Forest fires are started by humans” (lie)....and 7 & 8 year olds exclaiming they wanna be “a skyscraper”, and every other kind of nonsensical in-animate object but “not garbage” (polution ad). Phrased that way because the “bureaucrats” don’t want to offend anybody; police, fireman, etc.
I do know they are required, although I don’t know if stations other than conservative talk-shows are required to run them, or so many of them.
Who decides what a worthy cause is, and why there are no conservative ones that I know of is beyond me.
More to the point, is there any mechanism to change the policy? Given that no conservative is going to be swayed by these things, I think their only purpose must be harassment.

Little do the kids know they are being used as pawns in a larger game.
I think you may be jumping to conclusions there: I doubt liberals would purposefully use kids in that way.
