America’s homeless: The rise of Tent City, USA
CNN/Money ^ | May 16, 2014 | Blake Ellis

Homeless encampments known as “tent cities” are popping up across the country.

Formed as an alternative to shelters and street living, these makeshift communities are often set up off of highways, under bridges and in the woods. Some have “mayors” who determine the rules of the camp and who can and can’t join; others are a free-for-all. Some are overflowing with trash, old food, human waste and drug paraphernalia; others are relatively clean and drug-free.

The National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty documented media accounts of tent cities between 2008 and 2013, and estimated that there are more than 100 tent communities in the United States—and it says the encampments are on the rise.

“[T]here have been increasing reports of homeless encampments emerging in communities across the country, primarily in urban and suburban areas and spanning states as diverse as Hawaii, Alaska, California, and Connecticut,” the organization’s study states. …

Again (can't say it too often) GOVERNMENT is the problem, not the solution. Government CREATES POVERTY. Freedom and the free market are the only things that create wealth.

This is true as evidenced by historical fact and by simple common sense. Why are there more poor people now despite all the purported anti-poverty "Great Society" programs? Well, it's not that hard to figure out. The federal government is now a 4 TRILLION DOLLAR monster that produces NOTHING. Where do they get that 4 trillion dollars? That is money that would otherwise be in the pockets of you and I and all these "tent people." Businesses and people would have much more of their own money to make ends meet and invest.

Instead huge portions of what businesses and individuals earn goes into the useless rat hole of giant government bureaucracies. The enemy of the middle class and the poor is big government.

Hoovervilles, Obamavilles, NO F’ing DIFFERENCE!

This worthless POS and his fascist party have brought us back to the depression.

Will this fact, piled on top of the many become the 1776 moment of this era? Probably not. There have various small events to try to right the ship but in the end Thomas Paine’s words ring as true today as when they were first published:

“These are the times that try men’s souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.”

...

“Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.”

...

“What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated”

Too many in this age are intellectually and morally lazy when it comes to maintaining the freedom won back then at so high a cost. Most Americans today had their freedoms too cheaply bequeathed and thus hold them in low esteem when offered to give them away for the price of a temporary life of leisure at the expense of others.

There is still hope but that is fading quickly into the realization that once again the few might have to step onto the line to halt and forcefully push back the all-engulfing tyranny before us.

Why is it when the Prez is a Repub the “media” has tear-jerker homeless stories incessantly. When a DIMocRAT is Prez, there are none to be seen? Is homelessness gone when the DIMs are in charge?

This is Obama’s way of teaching Americans to get out of the house, and go camping.

How does government create poverty? The question should be, how doesn't government create poverty.

What is poverty but a lack of money? The less money a person has the poorer he is. So to the degree government takes a person's money, government makes that person poorer. Not rocket science. Yet when you tell Left-leaning people that voting for socialists who will raise taxes is like asking for a demotion with less pay, they look at you cross-eyed.

Why do we have more poverty now? The question is how big is the federal government and how much money are they taking (stealing?) form individuals. Well, we know the government budget is current at $4 trillion. That's your money, my money, and the money of all those tent people. So to the degree that $4 trillion per year stolen from us, we are all poorer.

Every person in the country is $127,000 poorer per year because of the size of the federal government($4 trillion divided by 315 million, the U.S. population). THAT is the extent that the government is creating poverty.

What would happen if instead we the people got that $4 trillion back? Each man, woman, and child in the U.S. would be $127,000 richer every year if we stopped the federal government from stealing our income.

So, force government do what ONLY what it's supposed to do. Keep a streamlined, waste-free Defense Dept. Nuke the rest except for the essential Congress, POTUS (ALL cabinet posts nuked except a streamlined, waste-free DoD, DoJ, and state dept), SCOTUS functions, and poverty would mostly disappear.

Whatddyasay?
