But the real reason that they put it [2nd Amendment] there is recognizing that there could come a time when our government itself could go off the rail, and could try to dominate the people, and the people would need a mechanism of defense for themselves, said Carson. I would never allow the Second Amendment to be jeopardized.
I do believe that it is necessary for people to begin to have rational discussions about things what kinds of weapons, said Carson. You know, I dont think tanks, for instance, would be a very good thing to be keeping in your garage. But you certainly should have access to any kind of weapon that you want for recreational purposes or to protect yourself. There really shouldnt be a lot of restrictions on that.
He continued, You do need to have a discussion about how we deal with situations where there is a tremendous amount of crime and easy access to the kinds of weapons that can create a lot of damage quickly. But that needs to be done in context of always preserving Second Amendment rights.

He speaks very softly but does he carry a big stick?
“The right of citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee against
arbitrary government, one more safeguard against the tyranny
which now appears remote in America, but which historically
has proved to be always possible.”
The late Senator and presidential candidate — Hubert Humphery D,Minnesota.
My my how the Democrats have changed.
Excellent, and throw that one at every gun-grabbing Communist loony who claims the Constitution is hopelessly outdated and needs to be junked and re-written because no one can ever really know what America’s founders actually intended by the words “arms” and “militia” ! :)
He didn’t hesitate to ream Obama out to his face at the National Prayer Breakfast. WH demanded apology, he declined.
I want people to understand that we, the American people, are not each others enemies. The real enemies are those people who are trying to divide us into every little possible group. - Ben Carson

“easy access to the kinds of weapons that can create a lot of damage quickly.”
He is talking about restricting my American Sporting Rifles with their standard magazines.
NO GO.
NO VOTES from those that can read.
I read his blog today and was thinking about him as President.
That’s very true and I thought about that after I posted that. I like the way he hates political correctness.
Re the Tank: I’m with you, Brother...
Re: Dr. Ben...I don’t get the enthusiasm or the fascination with this geek? Brilliant surgeon? Maybe, probably, his record seems to say so...Does that make his every utterance “words of wisdom”?
Clearly not, when he continues to demonstrate his complete lack of understanding of the God-given human right of self defense and preservation the 2nd Amendment safeguards? He needs to go “back to school” on this subject...
Somehow, people are unable to shake off the notion expertise in one field of endeavor automatically carries over into any other...Huh?
Carson, the typical tyro he apparently is, hasn’t the experience to understand he can’t have it both ways...He’s either FOR the RKBA, or he’s AGAINST...
Neither he nor any other would-be pol should ever be allowed to hedge...I turned my attention elsewhere the first time he shot his mouth off (and himself in the foot) about guns...
IMHO...Simple test...Any potential candidate who is not comfortable with me or any other law-abiding, adult, non-felon citizen walking into a gun shop, buying a semi-auto pistol, loading a standard capacity magazine for said pistol with JHP rounds, dropping it into a holster or pocket and walking out, no questions asked, background check or permit necessary, does not understand the 2nd Amendment, is a Statist, and undeserving of our votes...
Is Carson really the best we can do?
Ben Carson is able to clearly and methodically articulate the conservative message.. That’s what we need now.
You mean like this message?
I believe we have taken the moral low road on this issue. Some segments of our economy would virtually collapse without these undocumented workerswe all know thatyet we continue to harass and deport many individuals who are simply seeking a better life for themselves and their families. Is there a way to apply logic to this issue and arrive at an intelligent solution? - Ben Carson, "America the Beautiful", p. 102
Yeah they have tanks, we have deer rifles. Those idiots got to come out of the tanks once in a while. Deer rifles out number tanks, ACP’s etc. They will loose the battle of attrition.
2016, will be the year of the outsider, someone not from the political world, I agree with Beck on that concept. However IMHO another outsider will emerge, and it won't be Carson. I am holding my powder dry as to who I think it will be, stay tuned....
Many people in this country own tanks legally, sucvh as the late Jacque Littlefield, who had a very large collection of Main Battle Tanks from WW II to very recent times . The restrictions are not so much on the automotive or turret parts of the vehicle but on the explosive rounds that the main guns fire and the secondary armament such as the coaxial and turret mounted machine guns which are regulated under the Federal Firearms Acts of 1934 and 1986.
I have a friend here in Calif. who legally owns a Russian tank. The gun is disabled but it will run and move.
>> Yeah they have tanks, we have deer rifles.
I’d rather have the rifle.
I like Dr. Ben a lot, as he seems to say what he thinks without worrying about any political backlash.
My concerns about him, however, is that most of his talking is about domestic issues. Those ARE major issues nowadays.
He does speak softly, BUT does he carry a big stick as Teddy Roosevelt indicated?
Obama has essentially ruined our DoD and military morale, along with his failed foreign policies; thus relegating the US into a second-tier power in the world.
I’d like to hear Dr. Ben’s thoughts about what should be done regarding our military and foreign policy to restore to the US some respect by other other countries and US citizens.
I don’t trust Carson on guns. He is now trying walk back some comments he made a few weeks ago about the kinds of guns the public should be allowed to own. He needs to run for the Senate or House if he wants to hold office. Lets see how he does there.
