Results of the study show that the term Climate Change is too bland to excite people
Story submitted by Eric Worrall
Bryan Walsh, writing for Time Magazine, has published a claim by the Yale Project on Climate Communication, that the term global warming is more effective at engaging peoples attention than climate change. People apparently associate Global Warming with terrifying climate catastrophes, such as melting ice and coastal flooding. See the story here:

Climate Change, on the other hand, tends to be associated with unusual, but not necessarily terrifying weather events.
Bryan concludes with the suggestion that environmentalists should consider their use of language when attempting to motivate their audience.
Who knows perhaps this study heralds the exciting return of the term Climate Change at least until the next El Niño fizzles.
For example, according to the Yale study, the term global warming is associated with:

NO LEAVES ON THE TREES, HERE YET !!!!!
Real science isn’t subject to focus groups, polling, or marketing campaigns. People’s belief or non-belief in a scientific principle has no bearing whatsoever on its truthfulness or falsity.
There is still ice on Lake Superior and it is nearly June.
How about “Climate Doom.” Or “Climate Armageddon.” Or some other scientific term like that.
Makes sense to me.
It was recently very cold, for the last six months or so.
I have noticed that it has become warmer recently, and I predict that global warming will continue and it will get hotter over the next few months or so.
Yes. Global warming is making a comeback. Or, as we call it around here, summer.
Not if the sunspot count and solar wind stay low.
But Global Climate Change was so much more convenient of a doomsday scam than Global Warming or Global Cooling ever were.
Is it warmer than average today? It is because of Global Climate Change.
Is it cooler than average today? It is because of Global Climate Change.
Is it wetter than average today? It is because of Global Climate Change.
Is it drier than average today? It is because of Global Climate Change.
Is it more windy, less windy, more cloudy, less cloudy, more [anything], less [anything]? It doesn’t matter! No matter what the weather happens to be, it is because of Global Climate Change.
It is all Bush’s fault. Bush and those damned SUVs. Womyn and minorities will be hardest hit.
Here in Maine, the leaves are on the trees, but it was 47 degrees yesterday at 12:30 in the afternoon. The sun finally came out and it “warmed” to 55 degrees.
The temperature plunged to 35 degrees last night.
Last winter was one of the worst here in decades. Global warming would be welcome here in The Pine Tree State.

They could call it global warming in summer and global cooling in winter.
Why, yes, but only in the northern hemisphere ... then in the southern hemisphere ... then back to the northern hemisphere, etc. etc.

Yes, but only in the Northern Hemisphere. I noted a trend this morning that’s more severe and holds in both hemispheres - it went up like 5 degrees in an hour! That’s 120 degrees a day or 3600 degrees a month. We’ll all be dead in a week!
