Posted on 06/03/2014 10:09:52 AM PDT by Carbonsteel
Eariler this year, models Nina Agdal, Lily Aldridge, and Chrissy Teigen went topless for the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. But when three plus-size models, including supermodel Robyn Lawley, did a tongue-in-cheek recreation of the photo, it wasn't a satire it was a way to show how women of all sizes can be sexy and confident in swimwear.

In a universe run by homo men.
Im in agreement BUT - there are a couple of horses in that pic - you don’t get an ass like that eating bean curd and sprouts.....the one on the right has a clearly unhealthy appetite, and the resulting diabeetiss (Wilfred Brimley hat tip) high blood pressure and subsequent effects will substantially shorten her life.
They are pretty thick and heavier than a healthy size.
topless women are not selling swimsuits
Marilyn Monroe was 5'5", 115lbs, 35-22-35.
Nina Agdal, one of the SI swimsuit cover models this year is 5/9", 121lbs, 34-23-35.
They are effectively the same proportions, except that Agdal is 7% taller and 6% heavier.
I’ve noticed that almost all leading actresses under 40 are slender and small-busted. The only celebrity women who seem to be curvy are the reality-show types like Snookie and Kim Kardashian.
You can put a dress & a pair of pumps on your uncle and call him auntie but he'll still be your uncle.
The one on the right is obviously obese.
You’re using statistics and math.
How long will you last on FR?
I commend you for your in-depth research and incisive analysis of the question..
Well to paraphrase the late Johnny Cochran
if the hips are wide, you must deride....
The two gals in the middle are attractive.
The one on the outside right is out of my league
the one to the far right definitely has to lose some pounds!
There are a few exceptions. Like Katy Perry and Jennifer Lawrence.
Baby got back!
The lack of visual aids is disappointing.
If those are accurate stats for Marilyn Monroe, she was much smaller than average, and a very nice shape.
She wasn’t smaller than average..she was average..today..where girls get boob jobs for a HS graduation present..our senses have become conditioned to inflated bosoms..
Those actually are not the same proportions when height and weight increase by the same ratio. To take an extreme, think about a 6' tall man at 200 pounds, and a 3' tall child at 100 pounds. The adult may be reasonably proportioned, while the child is severely obese. The correct proportionate weight for Nida Agdal to match Marilyn Monroe's shape would be roughly 138 pounds at 5' 9" tall (1.0615^3 * 115 . . . actually not quite true for technical reasons; 134 pounds is a better match, but in either case, Nina is proportionately significantly slimmer).
weight should increase by the square of the height. If they were proportional, the taller model should weight about 132 pounds.
When baby got back, baby gots to wear granny panties.
Maybe weight should increase proportional to the cube? No time to think about it now.
Think of it like this: a bust to waist ratio of 35:22 is 1.6, vs. the average ratio which was 33:24.5 or 1.35.
That's a 20% variance in the ratio which, to a normal male observer is . . . eye-catching.
Ladies, you are not “curvy”. The Sports Illustrated models are curvy. The Victories Secret models are curvy. You are fat.
A bit of fat on a woman is normal, healthy, and highly attractive.
Jessica Biel! Heh
True. Even with the rolls and ripples photoshopped out, they are still just just overweight.
When they are that skinny, their curves come from a surgeon and a good photoshop artist.
These are nothing if not three dimensional calculations.
The variable here is the bust, for which MM was proportionately larger.
If Agdal had that, she would still probably be 7lbs or so underweight compared to MM.
Beats counting sheep by a mile!
On the same topic..if you can find a copy of "Boccaccio 70" the scene with Anita Ekberg is juts plain awesome...
Lookin' pretty good in 2014 too
I agree. I am all for fat shaming.
No, when they talk about "plus size", these days, THIS is what they mean:
These women are clinically obese.
I agree. A size 12 is considered plus size and that is the average size of most women.
the square of the root is inversely proportional to the angle of the dangle ...
Do you have to factor in wet bulb temp?
Now THATS a proper easter beer bunny !!!!
To Laz, that’s called just another Saturday night
I was reffering only to her heigt and weight.
well....just try and do better next time....(g)
Nah, they're just fat asses.
The problem is that they think they look good.
They would be wrong.
Spot on and when will women stop sympathizing with them and recognize that homosexuals don’t like women. They’re the competition.
They need to shop here:
I think they are overweight-especially the one on the right-and she needs to drop 30 pounds or so. I’m not young, but still weigh the same 108-110, wear the same size 5 I did at 17-I’m 5’9” and small-boned. I don’t appeal to guys who like those full figured women, but that it okay-I don’t like full figured guys...
Having a job that requires physical work and liking the Atkins/paleo diet for plenty of protein might have something to do with it.
Usually the thoughtful analysis comes after post 50.
