Hey, how bout retribution for the families of the D-Day soldiers (and all WWII men and women)

Watching the history channel D-Day show.
Were it not for these heroes...there would be no U.S...and even former slaves would be speaking German.
Or worse.

I apologize for being cranky. My dad served in WWII and it changed his life for the better as regards his love of country.

Like most of us...I am disgusted by our President. If he wants retribution...let’s start with those who gave their lives for our country.

What makes you think there would be no US?

Retribution?
Did you mean reparations (although with current FedGov actions, I'm sure retribution seems appealing too)?

The word you were looking for was “reparations” not “retribution.”

Restitution, Rooster Redux. Retribution. Revolution. Redistribution.

I think you might mean "reparations."

Well, actually, one could do rather worse than German. Any of the Khoisan "click" languages would be the devil to learn as a POW or otherwise, to say nothing of Chinese, with tens of thousands of complete independent and dissociated symbol-words, each independently difficult to write and pronounce.

How about reparations for my relative buried at Gettysburg?

Good point. A goodly number of those people were sent a letter requiring them to leave their homes and families and become the property of the government for an indefinite period of time, forced to eat government food, live in hellish barracks with 40 or more other men (and no women), forced to train to be killers and to follow the orders of their overlords, and then they were shipped, like cattle, to be put in front of men from other countries who were shooting bullets, heavy artillery and bazookas at them. Imagine!
Reparations!
Reparations especially for the families of those who died there, and whose loved ones died only to have the reasons why they fought rendered meaningless by the boobs who now ask for a different reparations.

The former slaves would have been worked to death or immediately sent to the gas chambers and crematoria.
The Nazis didn’t like people of color any more than they liked Jews.

Yep, I meant redistribution.
To: RoosterRedux
Sorry, I stand corrected; need the meaning of “retribuion” in this context, though. To me , it would be that the families would be punished.

I had after-thoughts that perhaps I had chosen the wrong word.;-)
