'British comedian and actor Rik Mayall has died aged 56.
He played the obnoxious, poetry-writing anarchist Rick in The Young Ones alongside his friend Adrian Edmondson. The duo later went on to star in the sitcom Bottom.
A pioneer of the 1980s alternative comedy scene, Mayall also appeared in Blackadder and The New Statesman.

One of my favourite shows of all time. One Halloween, four of us went as The Young Ones. My girlfriend was Rick, I was Vyvyan.

Used to watch The Young One’s when in Aberdeen back in the 70’s and early 80’s. It grew on you the more you watched it. Sorry for the loss of him.
Vivian was the punk...the guy with red hair and four stars stuck in his forehead.
