Only thing that matters is accidents and fatalities per 100,000 miles driven. I am sure that Wal Mart is well within industry norms per miles driven. BUT, the do have a whole bunch of trucks and a whole bunch of miles driven so they make for an easy target.

Actually I suspect that’s pretty standard for any large trucking company. Also notice it doesn’t define what a crash is or who was at fault.

50,000 killed every year on the roads - and CBS bitches about nine?

Looks like someone at See-BS thinks its time to pick on one of the media’s favorite whipping-boys: Walmart.

Plenty of non Walmart drivers hauling Walmart trailers that many will define as Walmart trucks.

Really now. I think that it has to be that those mean WalMart drivers are out there killing and maiming people for their evil capitalist masters in Arkansas. Bush probably has something to do with it too. And Liberty Valence.

“involved” is using the broadest brush possible and tells us nothing.

I wonder how WalMart compares to government owned vehicles.

Wal-Mart has 6,500 tractors in its fleet. If 190 crash per year that comes out to about 3% of its tractors per year. As they are driving a semi and have a commercial license, and work for a major corporation, they must report any and all incidents, even those which are fender benders or jumping a curb and knocking over a stop sign. I would also bet that 3% of all US drivers make contact with another vehicle or object per year on the road.

Walmart was well liked when Hillary Clinton was sitting on the board (pulling down big bucks, no doubt).

You’re right. They have an excellent safety rating.

If the drivers were that bad the DMV would pull their CDL. This report also doesn’t say who was at fault in the fatal crashes.

Walmart’s non-union truck and warehouse operation is one of its’ great strengths and will, of course, draw Leftist attacks.

It's the driver's responsibility to tell dispatch if he isn't fit to drive.

"Bush probably has something to do with it too. And Liberty Valence."

What difference, at this point, does it make?

If you don’t want to get hit by Walmart trucks, don’t crash into one. Nobody is forcing you to drive into Walmart trucks.

Never mind the fact that Walmart has more 18-wheelers out there than just about anybody.

The problem with these stories: if you have more trucks on the road, you are likely to have more accidents.

If we saw a comparison of accidents per mile driven, or something of the like you could determine if Walmart is worse than anyone else.
