Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Last week in Copenhagen, 1,000 people gathered in a public square to participate in a collective act that some might call idiotic and others brave. Together, bound in solidarity, they each ate one ghost chili pepper — one of the spiciest chili peppers on Earth.
Also called the "bhut jolokia," the ghost pepper grows in the Indian states of Assam and Nagland and, from 2007 till it was dethroned in 2012 by the Trinidad moruga scorpion, it was certified as the hottest pepper in the world by Guinness World Records. It measures over 1 million Scoville heat units. For comparison, classic Tabasco sauces measures between 2,500 and 5,000 SHUs.
So the ghost pepper is more than 400 times spicier than whatever hot sauce you're putting on your eggs in the morning. It's so insanely hot. So hot that India's Defence Research and Development Organisation has been working into the form of ahand grenade that will function like a tear gas cannister.

I like the flavor of the ghost pepper better than habanero. I use it to increase the heat of my jalapeno sauce. I also make pure ghost sauce for other applications. I would never do what they did.
Truly delicious - once you get the heat level right. Use the powder. Eating a pepper is just throwing yourself in front of a bus. But at the right heat level, the Ghost is really, really good.
Habanero tastes like metal in comparision. But the trick with habanero is to add some sitrus - any citrus will do. The two go together like Abbot and Costello.
Do you grow yours in pots or in the ground?
They aren’t bad at first bite. It takes a little while for the heat to set in.

The Habanero is more than enough.
That is what they say, but I haven’t been able to see that result.
Habanero peps are the max I can handle in Scovil units to the gut. Love hot peppers but there is a limit to the heat madness.
I've been watching a Danish crime drama from the early 2000s.
One of last week's epis had a SWAT team playing games with an armed guy that killed an off-duty cop, wife, and son, instead of just taking him out when he waltzes back into their hands. They allowed the guy to take hostages inside a church.
And they were still playing non-lethal games when he's ready to murder the [female] minister.
Stupidity overcomes any dramatic effect cooked up by the writers/producers/director.
It's not like the show hasn't had LEOs shoot and kill anybody before...

Amusing True story about the Police pepper spray:
They imported a few canisters of ‘Your’ stuff to see how it worked.
Not well, was the result. The officers who deployed it where the ones who where beaten the H*ll out of.
The solution was a spray five times stronger. It has an 90% success rate.
The pepper is stronger and they mix teargas with it. Tastes awful.
not really....if you eat a whole one you can’t taste anything....There comes a point where ‘the burn’ just washes out every thing. These leave taste buds blistered (and any other skin that touches the oils or seeds).
I grow them in pots then take them indoors for the winter. They will live for years if you take care of them.
I’ll bet the Deer and the Antelope stay away from those pepper-bombs, don’t they?

Indeed...burns at both ends. Many sampling a bhut for the first time don't realize the game is only half-over once their mouth and throat stop burning...
I am in the suburbs not near any dear.
I have a friend who visited India a few years ago. He stated he saw where farmers planted Ghost Pepper plants around all their other crops. It was to keep the elephants from doing damage. He said the elephants wouldn't go near the Ghost pepper plants.
