Why did Shae betray Tyrion to Tywin? How did she end up in Tywin’s bed. Did Tywin want her or was this a twisted way to get further revenge on the son he hated?

My favorite scenes were with the two brothers in the prison. It is light repartee but very nuanced.

I found this for those who want to know what happened in the book.

http://www.wired.com/2014/06/game-of-thrones-recap-ep-10/

For instance, the circumstances for Jon when he met the Wildings after the battle.

“In the books: Alliser and Slynt arrive after the Night’s Watch battle with Mance and imprison Jon, claiming he’s a traitor for joining the Wildlings. When Aemon won’t let them kill Jon, they send him to kill Mance, assuming the Free Folk will do the job for them. In the terms he gave to Jon, Mance also claimed to have the Horn of Winter, which he threatened to use to bring down the Wall if they would not open their gates. Also, Jon and Stannis don’t meet immediately after the battle, but later at Castle Black.”

In the book tyrion never sends Shae away though he wants to for her protection. She just turns up at his trial and betrays him. For sure Tywin having her in his bed is to show his hypocrisy. Its never clear did she love Tyrion or was she just a whore. When she sees Tyrion she says my lion did you come to rescue me, and your father is a very dangerous man. But he kills her anyway. She never pulls a knife on Tyrion like in the show.

I did not think she was worthy of Tyrion’s love on the show. And I was not surprised that she betrayed him or that she used the knife in the fruit and cheese bowl, when Tyrion came upon her in his father’s bed. When she had told Tyrion, “I am your whore,” I think she was projecting that she would do anything for money.

I do wish Sansa would have spoken more kindly of Tyrion to her aunt and the council in the Vale. He never forced himself on her, despite the pressure, and Tyrion did show he was concerned for her when she was mourning for her family, and he did take his wedding vows seriously.

Now, it gets me back to how Arya scorned the Hound. I re-watched the scene again. You could see his lower jaw tremble, when he asked her to kill him, and the sound of his voice as she walked away, denying him a merciful death, the way it rang roughly, wounded by her heartlessness, echoing through the valley, was painful to hear.

Donating to charity is good PR. And being seen as a savior of the city for feeding everyone is definitely a reason to feed the masses.

He is obviously a man of good taste.

Reminds me of a joke:

For sale, French military rifle, never used, dropped twice.

Careful what you wish for. The show would get pretty boring if there were no loathsome characters to hate....

I told my husband your joke in terms of a riddle.

How would you describe a French gun?

His answer: Instead of bullets and a bayonet, a white flag comes out when you pull the trigger.

Then I told him your joke and he really enjoyed it.

I’ve never heard French jokes told aloud until I moved to AZ. When we get together with the neighbors, they like to trade them. For example:

What are the gears on a French tank?

One gear forward and two gears for reverse.

My husband has yet to tell me a joke about the French selling war armaments, I think he said planes, to the Russians.

Thank-you for the laugh.

>>The Red Priestess had that look like, she’d like to get naked with our boy Jon and apply some leeches. I wonder if he has king’s blood in him like Gendry did. The blood of a Targaryen, perhaps?<<

There is a lot of mystery to who Jon’s mother is. Ned would never speak of it.

And, Martin has kept Jon alive for a long time now - it would seem something big is in store for him.

Do you want rampant speculation? It's not a spoiler because it's just a theory...

Jon Snow is a Stark, but he's not Ned's son. He's the illegitimate son of the "mad king" and Ned's sister, making him half-Targaryan. Ned kept the boy's true lineage a secret - even from Catelyn - to protect his identity.

Dany has three dragons, and accordingly there will be three dragon riders, herself, Jon, and one character introduced in the fifth book and not yet in the TV series. With incest never being a problem for a Targaryan, Dany and Jon will marry to restore the Targaryan throne in the end - the series of books, after all, is a Song of Ice and Fire: Ice (Jon Snow) and Fire (Dany Targaryan) - as well as the white walkers (Ice) vs. the red priests (Fire). A nice duality.

Ooohhh...I like that theory!

I’d heard it rumored that one of the Targaryan children survived the rebelion though. Varys switched the baby of Martel’s sister and smuggled him to Essos. Which stands to reason why Varys was colluding with Iliryo to wed Dany to Khal.

A surviving Targaryn would dispute Dany’s claim to the throne.

I am currently reading the book series and I have not caught up to the television series. Do you want me to message you and tell you what I know so far about Jon that I have recently learned?
