The thing that always pisses me off with these Congressional witnesses is that they sit on their high horses and scream “do something” without any thought to how it will be paid for. What are we supposed to do? Spend a trillion dollars? Cut back GDP by 2% or 3% a year? Tax “the rich” at 100%? Tax the middle class at 50%? And let’s say we do it. Then how do we know whether all this expense is working?

All of the un-named repubs work for Goldman Sachs, expediting the return of carbon credits commodities markets.

When you have an investment firm who is part of the government, all objective financial advice goes out the window.

The fact is, we are heading for another mini-ice age (200 yr. cycle) and anything to decrease global warming (per se) would make Goldman look like geniuses, when what they are doing is manipulating and criminal

With all due respect to the family and friends of the late President Nixon, Nixon was wrong to sign the bill which established the EPA imo.

More specifically, and as mentioned in related threads, with the exception of the federal entities indicated by the Constitution's Clause 17 of Section 8 of Article I as an example, entities under the exclusive legislative control of Congress, the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to legislatively address environmental issues.

But there is another problem because a third-party, the EPA, is actually regulating the environment. Regarding this problem, note that the Founding States had made the first numbered clauses in the Constitution, Sections 1-3 of Article I, to clarify that all federal legislative / regulatory powers are vested in the elected members of Congress, not in the executive or judicial branches, or in non-elected federal bureaucrats like those running the EPA.

So even if Congress had the constitutional authority to regulate environmental issues, it remains that Congress doesn't have the constitutional authority delegate such powers to non-elected bureaucrats imo. When Congress delegates legislative power to non-elected bureaucrats, Congress is wrongly protecting federal legislative powers from the wrath of the voters in blatant defiance of Sections 1-3 mentioned above.

Therefore, if these "Republican" EPA bureaucrats want to keep their jobs, they ultimately need to do the following. They need to inspire Congress to propose an amendment to the Constitution to the states which will not only repeal Sections 1 of Article I, but will also grant Congress the specific power to regulate environmental issues which it can then delegate to the EPA. And if the states should choose to ratify such an amendment, then the EPA would actually have the constitutional authority that it needs to regulate the environment.

My guess is these clowns are all lobbiests working for companies that have investments in the global warming fraud. A crony capitalist’s dream come true.

In witless Whitman’s case, its probably to benefit her investment rich hubby. But hey, she may be stupid, but like a 20 mph running T. rex which only needs to be faster than a duckbill, she only needs to be smarter than the jerks who listen to her.

It is well past time for the people to begin public tribunals that prosecute the heretics who continue the drive for the US to reduce consumption of fossil fuels, especially coal.

I think there needs to be a recognition that there's a difference between making a good-faith effort to obey the law, versus trying to avoid violating the law so egregiously as to be punished. Those who make a good faith effort to obey the law should generally not be punished if their judgment differs from that of someone else in deciding what is reasonable, but those who try to figure out how much they can get away with should not be entitled to such protection.

Apparently, the main qualification for heading up the EPA is that you must be an idiot.

“EPA administrators”

Note that administrator isn’t capitalized, so they’re not appointees or the EPA heads. These could be lowly “administrators” who are lifetime government employees across those presidencies.

They likely could have said, “...for Nixon, Ford, Carter” until they retired.
