Any good guesses on islands in the southern Indian Ocean that have runways of any kind?

Now the Malaysians deny this: "We did not make any statement to say that Capt. Zaharie was the prime suspect," [police spokeswoman Asmawati Ahmad] said, refuting an article in London's The Sunday Times that says Zaharie is now the sole focus of the investigation.

Until confirmed wreckage is found, you have to assume the plane is in one piece and functional (Same is probably not true of the passengers). To assume anything else leaves an open door for disaster...

What function would a plane of this nature have in terrorist hands? Consider 9/11 with an EMP, NORK/Nukes, or a chemical weapon payload coming into a large American city (LA, NYC, Washington?) and let you imagination go from there...

Was the captain a member of the ROP? That’s all you need to know.

Really? Slight change of subject, but if the Malaysians can do it ... ... We have invented a Fourth World status and we are it.

I was a quick bit this morning, that the search will be moved south a couple hundred miles.

Sounds like they’ve some reason for that, maybe we’ll know more about this in a couple weeks.

Just saying.

The investigators found that Zaharie had programmed a flight simulator in his home with drills rehearsing a flight far out into the southern Indian Ocean and a landing on an island with a short runway. These were deleted but computer experts were able to retrieve them, the report said.

So...who is lying?

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation recovered no incriminating evidence from the hard drives and a flight simulator belonging to two pilots on Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, the New York Times reported citing anonymous sources.
And

It turned out, however, that neither the simulator nor the deleted data recovered offered any significant information to establish a connection between Zaharie and the mystery of Flight MH370.
For those interested, I found this while browsing for the FBI final results (which have not been made public).

“southern Indian Ocean and a landing on an island with a short runway. “

So he may have landed, then took off again while the authorities were still having breakfast and tripping over their shoelaces?

Why would an apparently very accomplished pilot practice landings on normal length runways in a computer sim? To me, it makes perfect sense for him to try and hone his skills in the simulation world for a scenario that he might face in the real world.
