Apple announced a new lower-cost dual-core iMac today, and Geekbench 3 results for it are already appearing on the Geekbench Browser. Let's see how the new iMac performs compared to other iMacs.
When compared to the rest of the iMac lineup, the new iMac has reasonable single-core performance — it's almost identifcal to the entry-level quad-core iMac. Multi-core performance is significantly lower due to the lower number of cores (2 cores vs 4 cores).
One interesting thing about the new iMacs is that they use a low-voltage i5-4260U "Haswell" processor (the same processor is used in the MacBook Air). Why would Apple use a low-voltage dual-core processor in a desktop machine? The answer might be graphics:

I'd say Apple used an Ultrabook CPU in the new iMac to avoid shipping Intel's HD 4600 GPU in anything. No desktop CPUs include HD 5000.

According to Intel, the HD 5000 is twice as fast as the HD 4600. Apple may have sacrificed multi-core performance for GPU performance. Given the increasing importance modern user interfaces place on GPU performance, this may turn out to be a smart decision that extends the useful lifespan of the new iMac.

I just recently bought a new 27” and absolutely love it. Loaded Adobe CS Cloud and have run the most demanding applications all at the same time. Excellent performance.
I was going to get the MacBook Pro because I needed portability, but for just a little more than the price of that, I got the 27” and a MacBook Air to take care of my portability issues. Not a bad deal, I think. And I’m very happy to be back in the Mac world.

can apple IOS be installed on a generic tablet??
Nope. iOS expects to see certain hardware (CPU, periphery chips, & how they're integrated etc.) and certain firmware (ROMs) in order to boot.
"Generic" tablets can even have different CPU architectures entirely! Right now iOS is all ARM based (but this, technically, could change).
The short answer would be “no”.
Low cost? What is the price of this new jewel?
My 17” MBP is getting “long in the tooth” — but it serves 95% of the time as desktop. Offloading most of that load onto an iMac — and using the MBP for portability when needed — just might make sense...

Apple on Wednesday formally launched its anticipated new low-end 21.5-inch iMac with a lower entry price of $1,099, boasting a 1.4-gigahertz dual-core Intel Core i5 CPU, a 500-gigabyte hard drive, and 8 gigabytes of RAM.
Not worth the money. I built an 8 Core AMD FX-8350 w/32gb memory, SSD, 2TB hard disk and a GEForce GTX660 Overclocked for $800 and it'll run circles around that iMac.
I LOVE my iPad and I'm getting an iPhone 5S soon. I'm a fan of apple products -- having said that there's no reason for an iMac with such low technical specifications to cost over $1k, especially now that they're using Intel processors.
The value add from Apple is in the OS and how easily Apple's other products integrate together. Their PC/Laptop Hardware technically speaking, isn't worth the premium Apple places on it.

Certain Apple consumers will get very suspicious if they are not paying Apple's customary high tariff. They expect to and get a sense of well being from doing so. A heaping dose of ego-affirmation. Not talking about you. I am talking about the young urban hip crowd. Who are their target demographic.....who tend to be unimaginative clonish conformist consumers even as they think they are beyond cool.
