Gary Oldman Blasts Liberal Hollywood, Defends Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin
Hollywood Reporter ^ | 06/24/2014

In an explosive rant, the British actor claimed that "political correctness is crap," and advised people to "take a f—ing joke."

Gary Oldman didn't hold anything back in an interview with Playboy magazine, where he defended Mel Gibson's anti-Semitic remarks, Alec Baldwin's public tirades and went after liberal Hollywood.

In a lengthy — and extremely candid — chat for the magazine's July/August issue promoting Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the 56-year-old British actor says he believes "political correctness is crap."

"I don’t know about Mel. He got drunk and said a few things, but we’ve all said those things. We’re all f---ing hypocrites," Oldman later went on to claim. "The policeman who arrested him has never used the word n—— or that f---ing Jew?" he asked.

Gibson was arrested in 2006 for suspected DUI in Malibu and made anti-Semitic remarks to a policeman, saying at the time of his arrest that "Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."

Oldman continued in the interview to explain, "Mel Gibson is in a town that’s run by Jews and he said the wrong thing because he’s actually bitten the hand that I guess has fed him — and doesn’t need to feed him anymore because he’s got enough dough. He’s like an outcast, a leper, you know?"

The Dark Knight Rises actor also defended Baldwin's use of derogatory and homophobic terms. "Alec calling someone an F-A-G in the street while he’s pissed off coming out of his building because they won’t leave him alone. I don’t blame him. So they persecute."

Oldman later singles out satirical news programs like The Daily Show With Jon Stewart and Real Time With Bill Maher.

Hmmm... I got to see something Gary Goldman is in. Never heard of him, but I’ll see his movies.

The Batman series is a good place to start. He is Commissioner Gordon in those movies.

One of the first movies I ever saw Gary Oldman in was Sid & Nancy. He did a great job playing Sid Vicious.

You probably have seen something with him in it, he never looks the same twice for some reason.

If you’ve seen ‘Air Force One’ - he’s the lead russian terrorist in the takeover of the plane. Plays the role superbly.

So true! He's like Alec Guiness in that. Good actors sometimes do that!

Nevermind — I just IMDB’d True Romance. Looks like a gritty dark flick, but it sure has a lot of great actors in it! Is it pretty good?

It’s one of those movies that the ‘stars’ lined up for. They all wanted to be in it.
Tarantino script, but he didn’t direct, which may be one of the reasons it’s one of his best works.

Yes, it is good. It's actually a comedy, in my view. Very dark, but very funny. Dennis Hopper is very good in it. Brad Pitt has a minor role as a hippy stoner, in which he had me laughing hysterically. Patricia Arquette is very good and very pretty. The scene in which she kills Tony Soprano with (among other things) toilet-tank cover is particularly good.

It was a great movie, I loved it when Smiley told the Minister (was he the PM?) that they were the ones responsible for bringing the Soviet mole into MI6.
