TV Actor Bob Hastings Dead At 89, Best Know for MCHALES NAVY

An actor best known from the 1960s sitcom "McHale's Navy," has died. Bob Hastings was 89. Allison Knowles says her grandfather died Monday in his Burbank, California, home after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer. Hastings won fans on "McHale's Navy" as Lt. Carpenter, a bumbling yes-man. Other memorable roles were on "All in the Family" and "General Hospital."

He actually died of a heart attack in the pool. The cast helped his body sink to the bottom of the pool. In April, 1974, robbed of a watch and beaten by his mugger in South Carolina when he appeared in Florence as a guest speaker for a meeting of the American Cancer Society. He died three months later. He had two children.

When I was a kid, McHale’s Navy was one of my favorite shows.

Some trivia, the PT boat was real. imdb.com

LOL..I've got about 20 years on you as far as the vote goes. Captain Video was fun to watch..don't know if it's on youtube, but it was early science fiction on the black & white screen, and we kids loved watching it. Not as old as the original 1930s Flash Gordon series, but memorable none the less.
