Everyone bashes Maryland so I wanted to show folks where I live in Maryland and PROVE that it is NOT a communist state. Read every word before you call me a liar.....lol.

Arnold is a medium-sized coastal town (i.e. on the ocean, a bay, or inlet) located in the state of Maryland. With a population of 23,106 people and five constituent neighborhoods, Arnold is the 47th largest community in Maryland.

Housing costs in Arnold are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don’t compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in Maryland.

Arnold is a decidedly white-collar town, with fully 88.35% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Arnold is a town of professionals, sales and office workers and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Arnold who work in management occupations (15.00%), sales jobs (12.00%) and office and administrative support (11.71%).

Also of interest is that Arnold has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Because of many things, Arnold is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Arnold a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Arnold has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Arnold’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

Arnold is also nautical, which means that parts of it are somewhat historic and touch the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and bays. Quite often, nautical areas such as these attract visitors and locals who come to enjoy the scenery and various waterfront activities.

Arnold Information and Demographics

Do you like to read, write and learn? If you move to Arnold, you’ll likely find that many of your neighbors like to as well. Arnold is one of the more educated communities in America, with a full 52.52% of its adults having a college degree or even advanced degree, compared to a national average across all communities of 21.84%.

The per capita income in Arnold in 2010 was $45,970, which is wealthy relative to Maryland and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $183,880 for a family of four.

Does this really sound like a commie state of Maryland????????? NO!!!!!

It makes me ill to know that you lived in the poor part of Maryland.

Sorry, no. It was one of the "Better" school systems in the state. We know how that's rigged.

,,,,, Maryland where we tax the rain . Now how left is that ??? They refer to our general assembly as the general asylum . Where 47% would move out if they could . Where Smart Meters will dictate their comfort zone on the homeowner . Where we are currently 48 billion bucks in debt . The home of 40 new taxes imposed under the 0’malley regime . Where 3 of the 23 counties loaded with minorities determine every general election . Over 6000 businesses have packed up and left , many of which were fortune 500 companies . Over $175,000,000.00 was spent on a Healthcare plan and then simply tossed out as useless . I could go on but I’m beginning to get pissed just typing this great news .

If you are thinking of moving here from another state ,,, FORGER IT , if you are a conservative of Libertarian you will die a slow and painful death buried in taxes that other states have never heard of or dreamed of . It’s a beautiful state to drive thru .

As a 5th generation Eastern Shoreman (in NM), I can attest that Maryland is mostly sanity surrounding the government whore core of PG, Monkey, and Howard Counties... although with the commuter culture, Frederick may be contaminated beyond redemption.

Shame, it was a great place to grow up in the 60’s and 70’s.

I googled that Clam Box site-—— in Kennebunkport, and there was a picture that DID look like my beloved Fried Clams. Different picture than in post 10.

A quick (and possibly superficial) search revealed that the most Republican county in America is right here in Texas. With the caveat that Wikipedia is a leftist-dominated site, here are notes about King County, Texas:

In 2008, 93.2 percent (151 votes) supported U.S. Senator John McCain, whereas only 4.9 percent (8 votes) backed Senator Barack Obama. Of all United States counties, King had the largest percentage of support for McCain.

In 2012, President Obama fared even worse in King County. His Republican challenger, Mitt Romney, received 139 votes in the county (amounting to 95.9% of the county's total votes in the presidential election), while President Obama received only 5 votes — amounting to 3.4 percent of the total. That percentage was the smallest percentage that President Obama received in any county in the United States in 2012.

In addition, in the 2012 Democratic Presidential primaries (in which President Obama faced no serious opposition nationwide), King County was one of two counties that voted for Bob Ely over President Obama. There were only 7 votes cast in the Democratic presidential primary election in King County that year. Ely won 4 of them, Obama won 1, and two other minor candidates won 1 each.

The racial makeup of the county was 94.10% White, 1.12% Native American, 3.09% from other races, and 1.69% from two or more races. 9.55% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

“...The Democratic party has taken Maryland left, far far left.”
********************************************************************
And the Maryland Democratic party itself has moved from JFK type Democrats to being dominated by Weather Underground type democrats.

I actually voted for Democrat Donald Schaefer for governor when he ran (and won). But that was a long time ago and a lot of progressive water has gone under the bridge since then.

I live in Maryland so I reserve the right to tell the truth about the sorry state it is in. Despite having a few small “islands” and some regions (Western Maryland & the Eastern shore & some parts of Anne Arundel county) that are still conservative, those remnants are increasingly dominated by the progressives who INCREASINGLY outnumber them and they effectively no longer have a voice in the direction of the state.

Maryland is rapidly being turned into a “sanctuary” for illegal aliens and the takers are rapidly overtaking the makers as a percentage of the population. Government {and government contractors) are the major employers now in the state and the state survives by sucking tax wealth into the state from the remainder of the nation.

As a current Marylander, let me tell you the truth -— Maryland sucks and will suck even more as time goes on.

Any state can be saved by those who stand and fight for it.

For the first time in my life I live in a RTW state where all 3 branches of government are in GOP hands. We’ve got work to do but I haven’t got anything better to do.

I am glad to hear that your town Arnold is nice — but how many of those white-collar types are sucking on the government teat either in next-door Annapolis or in DC?
The state is run by lots of leftist people like O’malley and Elijah Cummings, so MD is likely to continue to be mocked (tho we will except Arnold, and the Eastern Shore and W. Maryland, from mockery).
