Ever Just Want to Give Up and Get On The Dole? ~ Vanity

Posted on 07/09/2014 11:03:35 AM PDT by GraceG

Ever wake up somedays and wonder why you work and put in the effort for others to leech off your hard work, especially those who are not even citizens.

Ever just think about just throwing your arms up in the air and saying to hell with it and quitting your job or shutting down your business and becomming a deadbeat like the other people that some of your hard earned tax money goes to.

Ever just wonder if we will never wake up again as country if you keep working hard to prop stuff up. Realizing that the only way for waking up the people would be for everything to just collapse and instead of trying to stop the collapse the best thing would be to rip the band aid off.

Ever just want to give up, walk away, move away, leave, tune out, and drop out....

Somedays, I admit, I do... and more often with each passing day....

[ I nearly reached the tipping point when a guy I bought a couple drinks for opened his wallet to pay for his tab and his EBT card fell out. I thought to myself, “Great. I’m paying him to have drinks with me.” ]

I have pre-emtively ended friendships over such things...

This sort of thing has made me physically sick before....

I’ve been poor. I didn’t like it. So now I work.

Letting go of the outdated American Dream of work, reproduce, consume, retire, die is hard. We score our life based on that paradigm. I guess we should use soccer as a lesson and that lesson is that a 0-0 score is ok as long as we had fun.

Is there ever a time in which accelerating the collapse is seen as a viable option for a reset?

That's a good question. And many people think that as soon as we hit rock bottom - the better. There is no doubt that America is crashing and burning. We are like passengers in an airliner that is in free-fall; heading for the ground at 550 mph. But there's not a damn thing we can do till we hit the ground.

Then our survivors can pick up the pieces and try and restore America.

Well, according to the libs, I am on the dole because I’m collecting disability. Never mind that I paid into the system for 35 years.

And I don’t qualify for an Obamaphone.

Anyone with any self-respect, shame, and dignity, that I know works. I understand, and I joke about it with some of my friends sometimes, but we all know that we must do the right thing and take care of our families, and not let the government do it. To do so would make us less than men, it would make us slaves.

Not to be on the dole, but to quit supporting this fascist country. So many people don’t realize how far down the slippery slope we have already gone.

My husband is going to quit work next year (at 49). When I did our 2013 taxes, he paid over $35,000! Fed, state, and SS and medicare (which I consider a tax, since it is going bankrupt and won’t be there for us - more on that in a sec)

Why should he work so hard to support all the illegals? And then be discriminated against because he is a white male?

We have been fortunate enough to have saved some money. House and cars will be paid for. We can live on the interest (1%, whoopee, hoping rates go up some day!) on our savings plus $20K a year. Subject personal exemptions and the standard deduction from that 20K AGI, and you have a near zero taxable income.

My challenge ot everyone is to save as much money as you can. And see if the material things in life are really making you happy. Or would a simpler lifestyle, where you have set yourself up to be self-sufficient and thumb your nose at the fascist leaders we have, would make you more fulfilled?

Back to Socialist Security - each situation is different, but when I did the calculations on my husband’s earnings, if he works another 17 years he will pay in nearly $175K. If he lives to 83 (average men’s lifespan), he will get back another $50k for paying in that $175K. He will NEVER get that money back because he will never live long enough. SS is extremely socialized. Low income people get all their money back and some of ours and yours. It’s not worth it to work for SS if you have a decent income (now, a 401K plan with employer matching is another story).

Any interested, you can start a plan to be self-sufficient right now. I started just 5 years ago and figured another 10 years would be sufficient. Now with the invasion happening and us hating CA more each day, we have upped our timeframe and will be escaping in 8 months!

I Vassilate between “We can turn this thing around before we crash” and “We can only turn this thing around AFTER the crash”.....

Some days it is the former some the latter, but inthe last year I feel more like “after the crash” recovery is more viable... Maybe that is the pessimist in me...

Just because I entertain such thoughts doesn’t ever mean I will act upon them, but I do war game out these things.

One scenario I'm mulling is "retiring" in two years when I hit 62: be a double-dipper, and work part time (up to the SS limit).

I'm just tired of the same old BS I've put up with for 40 years. The flexibility/ability to "take this job and shove it" can't be underestimated.

I won't be idle, my youngest son will be a HS freshman, and my grandson will be entering first grade. There will be plenty of activities to keep me busy.

The very least I can do is spend some of my time helping out the local Tea Party.

Quit the job and go live in the woods, yes. Government handout? Nope.

Precisely! Go Galt!

“When the Obama-fascists take my retirement account, when they take my hopes and dreams of providing for me and my family, when they take whatever freedoms I have left, especially my freedom to speak freely and worship; then I’ll feel that way. And more.”

It will be too late by then. Just as with Hitler, people didn’t realize he had his thumb on their throats until they could do nothing about it.

I would think about it, except I know that *I* would not rate welfare. I’m the wrong color, and I don’t have a bunch of anchor babies or kids from different baby daddies. I’d be turned down if I applied for any kind of aid, as others similar to me have tried and been turned down. The dole is only for certain, precious, favored people. People like me are expected to go to work and pay for the others. Which is fine, since I couldn’t live with myself, anyway, if I took money others had earned. But I can’t even consider or dream about it because it’s just not a possibility.

Absolutely.

But I can’t lower myself enough to TAKE, but I can quit CONTRIBUTING. That is help enough.

but to quit supporting this fascist country.

"Governments derive their just powers from the CONSENT of the governed..." (emphasis added).

And yet, we consent to a corrupt financial system each time we hand over or accept a FRN.

We consent to and support said fascism every time we file taxes.

We consent to the destruction of our 2A rights every time we walk into a federally licensed gun dealer and submit to a background check.

WE are the problem, not the government.

Its like the “vote for Romney to get rid of Obama” argument.

What’s the point, really? They both are Statists hell-bent on Socialism.

Obama’s plan just gets us there sooner.

I do feel like a fool being a slave to the system, but better that than to feel like a govt goober. I was let go several months ago and now have a part-time job. But it seems like people my age (mid-50’s) are not wanted as much.

Today I met a man who wanted an apartment. He was hard of hearing, on disability after work for a union. Looked like construction. He was in good physical condition, tanned wearing gold chain, well dressed and demanding. He was going to screw his current landlord out of a months rent to move tomorrow.
