US Senators call on Goodell to give Rice harsher punishment
CBS Sports ^ | August 1, 2014 | Ryan Wilson

Now that everybody on Capitol Hill has weighed in on the Redskins name controversy, the men and women elected to represent the people have moved on to a new sports-related target: the NFL and Ravens running back Ray Rice.

U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) and Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) sent letters to commissioner Roger Goodell calling for Rice to face a harsher punishment beyond the two-game suspension handed down by the league and considered too lenient by many critics.

The league says the video was not available, they requested it but never got it.

I think my sympathy will deepen when she dumps the creep.

Good thing the NFL has instant replay. Goodell: “Upon further review”

I agree. That wasn’t my point or suggestion.

That’s what I’ve just been reading, on all of today’s reports. I thought I’d heard on Rush, that the police said it was available. Maybe I didn’t hear Rush correctly.

I wonder when the Senate will re-try OJ Simpson.

........thanks for your comment to my post!

.......I agree with you because I am against men hitting a woman under ANY circumstances other than to somehow save their own life or someone elses, which I guess does happen occasionally.

But, that said, if I had my wish, he (the creep) would dump her and she would take nothing in the ensuing divorce.

Having been married to a gold digger once upon a time myself, it is a sensitive subject.

Might have been available to the police. Thanks to being the police they have a slightly different definition of “available” than the rest of us. Of course now the Ravens cut him and the league suspended him until further notice, so I guess it’s all moot.

oh, how I’d love to see her just walk away. That would take courage.

Of course, now with the Ravens letting him go, and his having achieved a status near Donald Sterling (without any $ assets to fall back on) such that no other team will pick him up, she may have lost her meal ticket and would find dumping him fairly easy.

I don’t ‘get,’ and never will ‘get,’ women who stay with wife beaters for any reason. Not for money, not for the kids. The bully wife-beaters are not going to change. Whatever mentality allows a man to beat a woman he supposedly loves was modeled for him at a young age and he’ll never get over it.

More important, it’s a crime.
