Wonder if the Feds are about to go into the bottled water business with all of the problems with water supplies lately.
And I have been laughed at for keeping a supply of stored water on hand at my home.
Who in the EPA is going to be punished for this disaster?
I live some 50 miles away Jackson county and they cleaned out the stores of water around here.
Lake Erie is the shallowest of the Great Lakes, and the West end, around Toledo, is very shallow. I’ve sailed there. Heats up quickly. And we’ve had a very rainy season, with a lot of water flowing into the lake from farms. Lots of phosphate. All that promotes algae growth, and that actually happens pretty often there. I hop it doesn’t spread to the Cleveland/Mentor area. Lots more peeps than the Toledo area. Akron/Summit County has reservoirs that frequently have algae blooms, resulting in poor quality, discolored water.
Yup. A lot bigger deal is being made about it than it really is. More of an inconvenience than anything.
You really have to go to the Middle East to get this story?
Al gee....
I’m just surprised they didn’t blame the Jews.
Ohio Feeper here...something very strange going on here. Algae blooms are nothing we in the western lake Erie basin,(the shallow end). It drains a large area of farmland, farms and livestock production. This years is not as bad as past years have been. Treatment facilities are,or should be, well prepared for algae toxins. I find it hard to believe that this just snuck up on them all of a sudden.
My suspicions:
Cover story for terrorist activities involving the water supply, or cover story for massive city (UNION!)employee incompetence. Many mosques in NW Ohio & SE Mich.
Planned scare tactics for EPA to shut down farms and livestock production. Lots of hog farms in the area too! think muslim oink oink.
Also, Many mosques in NW Ohio & SE Mich.
I live more towards central Ohio, so I am far away from this, but swam in Lake Erie 2 weeks ago. The water was pretty clear, didn’t see any algae.
Fascinating.
best be prepared....food....water...whatever meds you need....a crank radio or at least a radio with batteries...and flashlights and candles....
so will obama voters get the news now?or will they find out about it in two days while watching MSNBC.
Commonly, excess lawn fertilizer washes into a lake, providing food for algae, which bloom and deplete the Oxygen available for fish, who die and decompose.
Thought it might be the National Inquirer of the Middle East. But it is AP reporting it and they did put poisoned in quotes.
I understand that Detroit, not that far away, has been trying to sell water for money.
