These are crater/cave like things on Mars. I haven't seen that NASA is confident they know what these are or how they are made, but now that I have seen a pingo, they do look like pingos. Darned if that doesn't appear to support Immanuel Velikovsky's theory about Mars' atmosphere having been stripped away and the water mostly evaporated. Some water frozen in the ground would evaporate where exposed at the surface, leaving pingoes.
