If it helps just a little bit, isn't it worth doing?

The main doctor from the CDC continues to stress that stopping flights to West Africa will not 100% solve the problem of Ebola spreading. But if stopping the flights help the situation 10, 20 or 30 or more percent...isn't that worth it?

Reducing the risk isn’t on his agenda.

The CDC is playing immigration politics, which is much more important than saving mere taxpayers from a horrible death.

Despite the tired old platitude, sometimes it isn’t worth it even if it saves just one life.

The only way to stop flights is for people to stop flying. Protest the flights into the States by not flying. All it would take is a couple of people in those suits at every international airport at the airlines that allow people in from the quarantined nations.

People are always making the “since it won’t prevent it 100%” argument when it doesn’t make any sense.

What was the first response when they figured out the patient in Dallas had Ebola? They isolated him. What was the first response to those who were around him? They isolated them. What is always the response to a deadly disease outbreak? Isolation so others don’t get sick.

The CDC requires quarantine in these instances. The only reason why they break it is for a compelling reason. The CDC believes that economic isolation of Africa would cut the international response. It would cut food, money, workers and other aid.

Effectively, the world would sit back and wait to see how many were killed in the latest outbreak in Africa.

Damned if I know what the best choice is. Isolation protects me and my family, but I have zero faith in Africa containing any deadly disease - look at AIDS and how much of Africa is infected. The most likely result of isolation is a long drawn out kill off of Africans with a built in immunity to the next outbreak, and the rest of the world gets to experience how it was for American Indians to get killed off by smallpox.

Biologics in Africa are the poor man’s nuclear weapons. We can either treat it at the source, or deal with a mutated version that has been refined through the population of Africa. Heaven knows that they won’t do it themselves.

so what? 80% would be far better than letting them in.

they can’t follow protocols 100% but that doesn’t mean they don’t have any.

obama wants this country to go down b/c nationwide martial law is the plan. they are too smart to try to pass this whopper off as believable.

keep your powder dry. do not be moved outof your house.

A man has no symptoms. Therefore he is not infected. He gets on an airplane. Thirty minutes into the 10 hour flight he starts to show symptoms. Is he infected now?

Mr. CDC big shot, would you want to sit next to this guy on the plane once he starts displaying symptoms?

Have no fear that pResident Obola will have no trouble herding natural born US citizens into "quarantine" camps when it suits his purposes.

It's just non-US citizens whose "rights" must not be violated.

They are willing to scrap the 2nd Amend on the off chance that if it saves just one life. They also quarantine animals for month (s). Not to mention they quarantined Israel for made up nonsense. But god forbid we do anything to keep from importing a totally preventable disease.

This is all way past ridiculous.

If we don’t cancel or cut off the issuance of visa’s, we are going to get a lot of Liberian’s coming to the US to escape the disaster. Some will be infected. Saudi cut off the visa’s for all the effected countries..including Senegal which has had only one case. This would not stop the ability for aid workers and researchers to go back and forth. Liberals insist on creating and unrealistic straw man argument and then opposing that..rather than looking a reasonable solutions to the problem.
The cut off will happen sooner or later, because cabin crews are going to refuse to fly there..

Yep, it’s one of the most common examples of the False Choice Fallacy. You’ll see it every day in the office, and if you’re unlucky, at home.

An armed security guard and a local police force will not stop 15-20% of bank robberies, therefore, I think they should be abolished.

Typical leftist tactic: “if we can’t solve it 100%, we have a moral obligation to not try at all”. Odd, considering how often their mantra is “if it saves one life...”
