Gunfire, arrests erupt in SF as Giants fans revel in win
SF Examiner / AP ^ | 10-30-2014

The partying unfolded peacefully Wednesday night with fans gathering in the streets and uncorking champagne, dancing and hugging strangers after their team won its third championship in five years with a 3-2 victory over Kansas City in the winner-take-all seventh game.

But in some areas, the atmosphere grew rowdier as the night wore on. Fans climbed onto buses and smashed the windows on a police car.

Violence left three people injured in separate incidents, two by gunshots and one in a stabbing, said Officer Gordon Shyy, a police spokesman. The gunshot victims' wounds were not life-threatening, but the stabbing victim was seriously injured.

Shortly after the celebrating began, Shyy said officers made "a handful of arrests" as fans filled the streets and blocked traffic around the Civic Center, in the Mission District and on Market Street within walking distance of AT&T Park.

Bottles were hurled at police as they attempted to disperse crowds and help firefighters put out bonfires, Shyy said. Multiple officers suffered minor injuries, Shyy said, but did not provide an exact number. He also said one was treated at a hospital.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the region around Third and King streets was especially raucous with thousands of fans spraying beer, smashing bottles, lighting fires and setting off fireworks. Police in riot gear lined up three rows deep, and revelers began tossing bottles at them, the newspaper reported.

“Animals always crawl out from under their rocks when there’s a crowd.”

Gay Frisco has a great baseball team and too many feral animals posing as human beings. These feral animals are fed, housed and given cell phones for their votes to keep liberals in power.

Then, they look for excuses to commit acts of senseless violence.

They’re pikers compared to the west side of Chicago after a Bulls championship.

You'll get no argument from me.

San Francisco is a fantastic place filled with really ugly examples of humanity.

Exactly. The hives across the country are loaded with ferals like that.

All that aside, congrats to my beloved GIANTS!

I was in San Francisco when the 49ers won the Superbowl -- can't recall if it was '88 or '89, but the scene downtown was bedlam. My friend's car had a full bottle of beer bounce off the windshield as we drove down the street; down at Haight and Ashbury cars were being overturned and set ablaze.

It was party time for the lesser urbanites.

I was joking with co-worker last night after the win- that was only going to be short time when the mayhem was going to start.

Every major City- when local sports team wins the pennant, super bowl, cup or whatever- the rioting happens.

I have never quite determined why. I have twice had to stop a job I was working at and leave the area, as I was determined to be the wrong melanin content and was at risk. Both time the business owners came and told me to stop. leave quickly.

“I was joking with co-worker last night after the win- that was only going to be short time when the mayhem was going to start.”

My wife and I are Giant fans who don’t burn and riot. We said the same thing when the local tv channels were showing the happy fans celebrating.

Then, my wife brought up how the World Series Parade in Gay Frisco will happen on the same day that Halloween will be celebrated. That is mayhem instead of celebrating.
