Zachary Rapheal Torrance, 18, was arrested Thursday in Hueytown on suspicion of armed robbery.

Police allege Torrance held up one shop on Wednesday and is suspected in three other recent robberies, all in the Birmingham area.

'He told the detective that he had been on the 'Subway Diet' and it had not worked for him and he felt like he wanted his money back,' Hueytown Police Chief Chuck Hagler said.

'The detective felt like he was being serious.'

To be honest, Subway is probably the worst of all fast foods.
Here in Russia it sits idle at any food court housing any other fast food franchise.
It is only popular it places lacking any other budget food chains at all.
On the other hand I fully understand people jumping into their franchise because it is much easier technologically.
It is extraordinary easier to run as far as you don’t need to fry burgers and so on.

Homer Simpson took one of those big subs home one episode--"Two more feet [eaten] and I can put it in the fridge!"

I remember many moons back, getting a whole subway sub with double meat was almost too much for lunch. Now, the last time I got one, I hefted the bag and it felt like there wasn't anything in there but air. Needless to say, haven't gone back. Too bad, they used to be okay.
