Report says the car was totaled. A Scion. NET: don’t buy a Scion if that little bit of damage totals it.

The looks alone keeps me away. Now we find that not only is it ugly, but a worthless POS on top of it. Gee, I’m amazed, NOT.

Sloppy TV gerbalism. Toyota and Scions are two different brands.

Its like saying he was hit by a Ford Lincoln.

Clown cars are easily damaged and totaled.

How old of Scion? Where was it damaged? If you hit in the front corner and knock out the headlight, bend the hood and front quarter panel and you are looking at three parts to repair and probably $3000 or more. Depending on how old it is, $3000 can total a car.

I just went to look at the picture and the damage was at the front right corner and crunched the parts I listed.

I bet the repair costs on Tolmachoff is a lot more, but since Obamacare isn't fully implemented it is still hard to declare him as scrap and use him for parts.

Different brand but same maker - Toyota.

It’s like Saturn was actually a subsidiary of GM.
Similar thing with Scion.

“It’s like Saturn was actually a subsidiary of GM.”
But it wasn’t from the outset. They were independent, manufactured in Tennessee, then GM acquired them and then drove the Saturn models into the ground.

I drove one for 12 years (but not a GM one).

This kid wouldn't have been so lucky if he got hit by a car from my generation. My mother's 1974 Buick Rivera or my brother's 1972 Pontiac Catalina would have broken more then his jaw. Those two tanks on wheels were big heavy cars with huge motors. The Pontiac had a 400ci and the Buick had a 455ci. Just the motors of these cars weigh more then the entire Scion.

it probably doesn’t take much to total it. a new bumper cover - not the bumper itself - can be 5-600 dollars.

He was on a bike, and it looks like the car was totaled because it’s an old hunk of junk, not from major damage.

If a front fender justifies an insurance check for completely totalled, then the claims adjuster needs firing.

But it wasn’t from the outset. They were independent, manufactured in Tennessee, then GM acquired them and then drove the Saturn models into the ground.

They started as a subsidiary to GM. They did use Honda engines in some models, and they were somewhat independent of GM, but they were always a subsidiary of GM.

Did the airbags deploy? That will total an older vehicle even with minor actual damage. Costs gazillions to replace them.
