North Korea Officially Called James Franco And Seth Rogen’s New Movie ‘Evil’
MTV ^ | 12/04/2014 | by Kase Wickman

Surprise, surprise: North Korea is somewhat less than psyched about the upcoming Christmas release “The Interview.”

What’s not to love about a movie starring beloved comedians James Franco and Seth Rogen? Well, if you’re North Korea, uh…a lot of things. For starters, the movie is based on Rogen and Franco’s characters, a TV news duo, accepting an assignment to interview North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un. Fun! Cool! Less cool, from North Korea’s point of view: they’re also given an assignment from the CIA to kill him.

One wonders as well what North Korea thinks of the use of Katy Perry’s “Firework” in the movie. Is that one of the “utter distortions of truth” this latest screed, condemning the unreleased movie, is talking about?

The Hollywood Reporter shares the statement, published under a pen name.

“The cheekiness to show this conspiracy movie, which is comprised of utter distortions of the truth and absurd imaginations, is an evil act of provocation against our highly dignified republic and an insult against our righteous people,” the statement reads.

“The trashy filmmakers, who, won over by a few dollars thrown to them by conspirators, have compromised the dignity and conscience of filmmaking and dared to produce and direct such a film. They must be subject to our stern punishment.”

Yowza.

Sweet! That’s a ringing endorsement if I’ve ever seen one!

I think he is well aware he gives off that “vibe”. He wrote himself the role of a grown man dating a high school student in “Pineapple Express”.

I have seen the trailer twice and I couldn’t stop laughing. I’ll see this one.

Well, I thought “This Is The End” was the funniest thing to come of out mainstream Hollywood in at least a decade. However, I’m not easily offended and I got a lot of the “in jokes” that the movie made playing off the actors’ previous films.

Sure, they were not accurate at all about prophecy, but it was written by a couple of non-practicing Jewish guys, so I didn’t go in there expecting that kind of movie. They just used it as a plot device.

But the entire movie was so horribly-disgusting that I couldn’t believe it. To market it as a “comedy” is just completely wrong.

Not sure what planet you are from, but I genuinely thought "This is the End" was one of the funniest movies I have seen. Helps if you know who all the actors in it are and are familiar with their work. I could see how someone might be lost if they didn't know who everyone was and that they were playing exaggerated versions of themselves.

But yes, I recommend it all the time to people.

They should have used this Kim Jong Un impersonator in their movie.

He’s done a McDonald’s commercial as the Un and nukes America!

He doesn’t give out his surname because he’s concerned that the real Un will have him assassinated.

I could see him doing a North Korean version of Richard Dreyfuss’, “Moon Over Parador.”

Moon Over Parador (1988) movie trailer.

BUT it was preempted by “This is the End”.

I have only shut off (from rentals or otherwise) three movies recently. Two of them were Seth Rogan movies. "This is the End" was one, shut it off when the guy was decapitated at the front door. The other was "Neighbors". Shut it off 15 minutes in. Just not funny. Painful to watch. Reminded me of the scene in "Idiocracy" when he went to the movie, and it was getting huge laughs while he was trying to figure out what was going on. The third was "The Darjeeling Limited". Just slow to develop and I wasn't in the mood for slow-to-develop movies that day.

I saw “This is the End” twice. I was INCREDIBLE shocked by how good the movie was. I thought it was going to be lame, but it was superior. If only Hollywood made more like this.

I feel conflicted.
