Several media pundits have opined over the last several months that it almost appears that divine intervention is playing a role in the continuing close, come-from-behind victories that Florida State University has achieved this season. If so, would that be a valid reason for the Football Playoff Committee to exclude FSU from the Top Four? After all, Alabama would not want to play America's Team, the Dallas Cowboys, so they SURELY would not want to play God's Team, no?
ROFLOL.
God’s team? Really?
I like the four team playoff. Was hoping this was the solution for several years. The team that argue for being the 4th team have basically zero chance of winning. There is not a year in my lifetime where more than two to three teams have a real argument for being a champion. The best team is either Alabama, FSU, or Oregon. Everyone else is a 2nd tier team. This structure made every Saturday of the entire season do or die. Alabama conquored a very deep SEC. Oregon is the class of the west. FSU hasn’t lost since Obamas first term ended. OSU,TCU, Baylor and probably all have a legit argument to be the 4th team, but I don’t see any winning two games in the tourney. One game, quite possibly.
the ncaa bball Toumey is a wonderful event but it makes the regular season games marginally important. The beauty of college football is that every game matters, and I personally want to keep it that way. I watched more Saturday games this year than probably ever before because the playoff race basically began in September.
I agree.
I think TCU is going to get dropped, Baylor will move up a spot, and OSU is going to be in the playoff, as much as that turns my stomach.
Baylor’s coach has a point, “It is the Big 12 championship game, right? A single champion?. We won that game, and TCU is going to the playoff?”
Not picking on tOSU, but Cardale Jones' famous tweet could be made by 50% of the "student athletes" currently playing big time college football.
"Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL classes are POINTLESS"
The only way this is fair is to have the top 10 play between now and January. There's plenty of time to do it and it would separate the men from the boys. While I have no issue with the top 10 at the end of the season, I do have a problem with the order. In any event, this has been exposed for what most suspected all along: a money grab.
Why all this emotional handwringing when it is already ordained that the SEC team will walk away with the trophy?
The biggest problem I have with it is I live in the center of Buckeye country (moved here in 2007 for work). I'm old enough to remember all the Woody Hayes incidents. There were more than the '78 throat punch.
It sickens me that the locals venerate a psychopath and have a Obama-esque sense of entitlement about their team. The only group more obnoxious are Yankee fans.
It seems from looking at the rankings that there is a clear distinction between the teams with 1 loss and 2 losses. This year I would have put 6 teams in the playoffs. Let the numbers 3-6 play their way into the semis. If some year there are 8 teams have 4 first round games.
Adjust the number according to the rankings each year or face the same crap every year as some great teams sit it out.
Just Win Baby.
Somebody gets screwed no matter what.. Heck even with a 65 team field in the NCAA Basketball tournament some team winds up whining about being left out.
For the most part, yes.....but there are 3 and 4 loss teams that are much better than teams ranked above them, like Ole Miss and Auburn. Problem is...they play very tough competition in a strong conference. Tough for them, but that's the way it goes. It's why I like 'Bama to take the title.
You have to draw the line somewhere. If you don’t put it on wins and losses the rest is far more subjective.
I watched WV play Alabama heads up for 3 quarters and beat Baylor. Then they lose to 3 lesser teams. Can’t move up 3 and 4 loss teams, IMO.
The cruz of what I propose is that they make the decision about the number of teams annually, since the results vary annually.
I’m not proposing the 3 and 4 loss teams should be ranked higher. I just think they’re much better than a lot of teams ahead of them. They’re only in that position because of their tough conference. The big ten is a big money Division II conference, based on depth.
“Youtube video: Ref to Winston: We’re giving you every edge man. You’re going to get it.”
The corrupt ncaa has created a system so corrupt it would make olympic figure skating judges blush. No one goes to class. Officials determine champions. I’ll be watching more and more volleyball. Championships are settled on the court and the girls are hot!”
The ref was ACTUALLY saying “We’re giving you every inch man, you just didn’t get it”.” referring to a missed first down that was close.

You’re right of course...29 straight wins, pure luck, garbage...only the really good teams have 1 or 2 losses...FSU will be lucky if the Ducks don’t humiliate them on national TV. Of course, FSU got lucky last year that Auburn did not humiliate them on national TV...Let’s all just admit it that FSU is just really lucky...(quack, quack)
You mean like the SEC team walked away with the trophy last year? The only real problem for Alabama is that there are no more Missouri’s to play...
You were exactly RIGHT!!

The sportswriter’s points were that is was something MORE than luck, yet not completely skill....that perhaps there was assistance from the world beyond. But if so, why?
Yes....sadly. I was wrong, however, about the playoff system making college ball less of a joke.
