American drivers have been enjoying low gas prices lately. According to AAA, the national average price of gas per gallon is $2.03 for regular, compared to $3.29 this time last year.
Also happy with low gas prices are state governments, but mainly for different reasons: politicians in certain states see low gas prices as an opportunity to raise the gas tax.
Heres a map of the states currently considering an increase in gas tax:

Yeah... I work in a town in PA that has a large refinery. It's not far from the birthplace of the oil industry.
The price for fuel in town at the gas station outside the front gate of the refinery was already high compared to eastern PA. Diesel is still $3.09/gallon.... THEY MAKE IT RIGHT THERE.
Then the outgoing Republican governor made it worse.

I have a friend who works in food services in a retirement home. Her truck broke down awhile back and she hasn’t had the money to fix it so she’s been riding a bike back and forth to work every day....10 miles. She has gone from a size 16-18 to a 12. She is off her blood pressure meds, etc. she found out the other day that her truck will cost more to fix than it’s worth so she said she’ll just keep riding her bike.

It’s still well over $3 a gallon on the CO Rockies.

Corbett was bad, but most people just have no idea what Wolf&Co is going to do to us, and what is really coming down the pike. He’s a mini-0bummer. I just hope the GOP-controlled Legislature can keep him in check for the next 4yrs.

( Some days you're the windshield, and some days you're just the darned bug.)
In NJ the democrats and republicans have decided to raise the gas tax by 23 cents a gallon.
They say they want the money to pay for fixing the roads and bridges.
When he first entered the white house, Obama and his minions took what they called 'stimulus funds for road ready projects
WHERE DID THAT MONEY GO??
And then there's ever increasing tolls that were supposed to be temporary on the roads/bridges in NJ
That increase every year, but will never ever go away.
...and $14.00 to cross a bridge...
AND NOW, I'M READING THAT GOVERNOR CHRISTIE IS PLANNING TO SIGN THIS ON FRIDAY!
HE CUT A DEAL...
say it isn't so Christie
Nice way to repay those people who supported you...
You know the little people who've been suffering for eight years under Obama.
You bastards.
The Assembly voted 53-23 to pass the bill shortly before 1 a.m. EDT.
Of the 53 who voted for the bill, 10 were Republicans.
yep
passed in the middle of the night, and going to be signed right before a holiday weekend.
you bastards
Independence Day my ass...
