Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Tuesday that Senate GOP leaders were making a major error by agreeing to pass a “clean” Department of Homeland Security bill that doesn’t defund President Barack Obama’s immigration plans.

Since nobody can explain this to me. First of all where is the outrage on the clean bill? It is nowhere here. I don't understand why Cruz says one thing and then votes for the thing he said he wouldn't. The reason I find it incredible is that now Immigration is not going to have the attachments that were part of the bill. This is worse then Walker saying things about immigration. Cruz has advanced immigration amnesty in the country.

IF one cannot trust ANY of our alleged representation in D.C., then there isn’t any. We have only a Dictatorship.

We have an illegitimate government.

Cruz has NOT voted for the bill- he has voted to allow debate on the bill.
I assume he won’t vote for cloture on debate either.
The Senate will pass it whatever he does.
At least debate gets Dems on record and loses nothing.

The bill can ONLY be stopped at the House vote to bring the bill to the floor.
Our congressmen must ‘vote against the rule’. That causes all heck to break loose.

Is Obama trying to blackmail and create so much panic in the American people and Republicans in Congress that Congress will have no choice but to fund the Homeland Security bill stalled in Congress?

(Obama is such a two-faced hypocrite. On the one hand, he tries to reassure us that ISIS is a jayvee team, and so, according to Obama and his thugs, they really pose no true threat to the United States homeland, while, on the other hand, Obama----in order to try to get his version of the Homeland Security bill passed that grants all types of freebies instantly to 4 to 10 million illegals----warns us of terrible things that terrorists will do to us if Congress doesn't give Homeland Security everything it wants, such as broad powers to hand illegals all kinds of goodies like work permits and access to benefits like Social Security. )

Obama's blackmail attempt goes something like this:

1. Obama says: If you don't fund Homeland Security for the next year by giving it all the money it says it needs to fight terrorism---everyone knows that Obama is referring to Islamic terrorists, but he won't use the word "Islamic". What an idiot---terrorists will run wild over the United States, attacking such sites as malls and other buildings to the point that Americans will live in constant fear and terror for their lives.

2. On the other hand, according to Obama's blackmail attempt, if you give Homeland Security all the money it says it needs to fight terrorism, and, at the same time, also give it money and unlimited power to give 4 to 10 million illegals instant access to such things as work permits, housing, and benefits like Social Security, the United States will be a much safer and greater nation forever and ever. What a bunch of horse manure.

3. Hogwash: I say Hogwash. I say that it will slowly destroy the United States as we know it if we give Homeland Security broad powers to quickly process 4 to 10 million illegal aliens so that the illegals have instant access to such things as jobs, housing and benefits like Social Security.

Giving all those illegals all that they demand will do more irreversible damage to our towns and cities than any terrorists' attacks will ever do.

4. So I say this to Republican Congressmen: We take our chances with terrorists and we shutdown Homeland Security. That is, we take our chances for the next year with a stripped-down Homeland Security and hope that terrorists attacks will not be as horrible as Obama and his thugs paint them out to be.

(I believe it is safe to say that most illegals don't care about Islamic terrorists. In fact, I doubt if many illegals have any idea what Islam and ISIS are about. They are probably puzzled why Americans are so scared of this ISIS, a group far, far away on another continent nobody cares about. Most of the illegals only care about themselves. And the rest of America be damned.)

5. My point is this: Giving 4 to 10 million illegals instant access to jobs and benefits like Social Security will destroy more of the United States as we know it than any ISIS terrorist attacks in the coming year will ever destroy, even if we have to fight Islamic terrorists with a shutdown or stripped-down Homeland Security.

6. To the Republicans in Congress: Don't fall for Obama's blackmail attempt as he tries to persuade you to pass the Homeland Security bill so that he can legalize 4 to 10+ million illegals. Don't fall for Obama's scare tactics.

7. Handing Homeland Security almost unlimited broad powers this year to give 4 to 10 million illegals instant access to jobs and to such social benefits as Social Security benefits without a fight would be a horrible mistake, because such a surrender will do more severe damage to what we know as the American way of life than any ISIS terrorist attack that may hit the United States in the next year.

8. Again, I hope that Congress does not surrender to Obama's blackmail attempt when it comes to this horrible Homeland Security bill that gives Homeland Security almost unlimited powers to legalize 4 to 10+ million illegal aliens.

Your points are so accurate. The problem is that Senator Cruz wants to be President. If he cannot handle the President and stay strong then how is he going to deal with foreign leaders. He needs to think about his principles. He should not be caving so easily to Obama.

We HOPE there is method in the madness. The House can make amendments to the Bill (like cutting off Obamacare funding) and sending it back to the Senate for a vote.

Pray this happens.

If the House did this, there would be an automatic up or down vote in the Senate requiring only 51 votes to pass and go to the POTUS. This is a Democrat trick and was used to pass Obamacare. Execpt in that case, they simply switched the entire content of one bill that had been passed and sent it back to avoid the fillibuster.

Gee, countries have overthrown their governments and hung their kings/queens for screwing over the people but not to worry cause that will never happen in the good old USA. The people are too afraid of what the government might do, like shut itself down and sacrifice our security.

If the House does this, and I don't see why the House wouldn't add language blocking Obama's amnesty, it only takes 51 votes to pass the House amended version of the bill in the Senate. This seems like a perfect way to make end runs around Dem filibusters.

As I understand the Senate rules, if the House puts defunding amnesty back in as an amendment plus any other amendments and sends it back to the senate, then there will be no cloture vote (filibuster). The new bill will go directly to the Senate floor for discussion and further amendments.

In other words, this gives the GOP majority the opportunity to attract some red states Rats to make it a biparty bill that His Barkyness will be put in the position of vetoing the bill, thereby taking the blame for shutting down DHS.

Somebody correct me if I’m wrong.

“They PASSED the bill... “
If they had you could link to a source...

The Senate takes several votes on bills.

Are you saying this because Cruz did not try to block debate on a clean bill? Why couldn’t you get another Republican senator to filibuster this time? Do Cruz and Lee have to do it every time?

Are you as upset as I am that the Republican governors did not join together and put heat on McConnell and the rest of the Republican senators to defund the executive amnesty since it is directly affecting each and every state?

Bottom line is that we can’t depend on our elected officials to represent us and uphold the Constitution. It will be up to us to fight tyranny. And I don’t mean via the ballot box. We tried that. Didn’t work.

B.S.

They voted on a procedural vote, not the bill itself.

If I am wrong, post the vote to prove it.

Exactly. That is what it is about. And it would be a superb double-header if this happens, and the SCOTUS votes to declare the Federal Obamascare subsidies in the grave they belong in.

I would have a BIG party.
