After this brutal winter, Daylight Savings Time couldn't have come at a better time.

I still have feet of snow in my yard and I'm still waiting for the ice dams on my roof to melt. With the warming temperatures next week (up into the 40s!), the extra hour of daylight is going to really help accelerate the melting.

It doesn’t save energy.

I know that extra hour of melting is really going to help. But the Globull Climate Changey is going to make the melt re-freeze due to the planet warming and you don’t care.

“extra hour of daylight is going to really help accelerate the melting.”

The Sun doesn’t know anything about daylight savings time.

DST was man’s way of changing nature before climate change came around, and is is equally effective.

In thanks for the extra daylight, I cut off the bottom of my blanket and sew it to the top.

It’s stupid
It’s retarded
It accomplishes nothing
It’s a sad form of government control over people’s lives
It causes confusion and annoyance
I really enjoy living in a state that doesn’t do it
But I also really enjoy our functional timezone “shift” when it happens

DST should be done away with.

The time should be the way it is now, and stay that way. The days get longer all on their own. The stupidity of the Democrat Congress and Bush expanding it made things even worse. (they truly were a match made in hell for us)

....and give us our light bulbs back!

I don’t know if they still do but at one time a small area of Alabama known as “The Valley” was on Eastern time.

A few years back, we had a major forest fire. The newschick said something to the effect of: The firefighters are really going to benefit from the extra hour of daylight...

At one point, I lived on a ranch with about ten horses boarded there. Someone asked, quite seriously, how we adapted the horses’ feeding schedules to the time changes. I couldn’t resist — I told that we just set their watches forward or back and let them get used to it. :=)

Did the extra hour help? or did the extra hour add to the heat of the fire and cause massive global warming??

We’re all given the same amount of time daily. It really depends on what you do with it that matters. I always do the things that need to be done and those that are important to me.

Hate to have to tell you this but you DON’T get an EXTRA hour of daylight.
Changing what your clock says has nothing to do with the total hours of sunlight you get during this time of year.

I wish the clock would be moved forward two hours. Then we’d really see some melting!

DST was man’s way of changing nature ...

I like to think of DST as going back to nature - less dependency on the rigidity of "commerce"-time, and adapting to nature.

I suppose it also depends on where one lives in a tz, the leading edge or the trailing edge, too. Trailing edge residents really appreciate DST in the Summer.
