Welcome To McDonald’s, Would You Like Kale With That?
CBS San Francisco ^ | May 7, 2015

McDonald’s may be developing a taste for a new ingredient as it fights to reinvent itself: Kale.

The world’s biggest burger chain says it’s testing two breakfast bowls in Southern California, one of which includes the leafy green as an ingredient.

The test comes as McDonald’s Corp. works to shake its junk food image, with sales at established U.S. locations declining for six straight quarters. CEO Steve Easterbrook, who stepped into the top spot March 1, has said he want to turn the chain into a “modern, progressive burger company.”

Corporate suicide by kale. How on earth could McDonald's leadership be so determined to destroy their company? Unless, of course, they are using the WH management model and Mooch is making suggestions?

Hamburgers, fries and milk shakes have kept them afloat for decades. Kale????

Can’t speak for anyone but myself...

but when I go to McD, I don’t want kale, I want a HAMBURGER.

Served fresh and hot, by employees that speak English as their FIRST language, and have a good, customer-service-oriented attitude.

Oh, and fries fried in LARD. None of that politically correct kaleseed oil or whatever they’re using these days to appease the liberal whiners.

Instead of getting back to basics, they accelerate a death spiral.

“How on earth could McDonald’s leadership be so determined to destroy their company?”

McDonald’s upper management has been suffering from what is called “Glass Tower Syndrome” for a decade or more now.

The vast majority of Leadership is so far removed from store management operations that they are more concerned with Political Correctness, office politics, and press appeal, than they are with profit. Where looking and sounding good at staff meetings is more important than actual money-making.

McD’s is far from the first company to go through this, but they are the largest right now. The only cure is a massacre of mid and upper leadership at the headquarters level.

Reminds me of that Tina Turner song, “All I Want is a Typical Kale.”

Does not compute. It’s been years since hamburger crossed a McD’s counter. I can’t tell you what that ‘food product’ is but I am sure it’s something far below hamburger on the meat scale.

All I know for sure is my stomach can handle a 99 cent mystery ‘burger’ from a AM/PM minimart and I get sick every time I eat at McDs. Something in that ‘meat’ is evil.

How long before mcdonalds goes vegan? McVeggie burgers.

We all know what's in (or no longer in) the standard McDonalds burger patty. How long before they skip those costly organic materials entirely, and just start serving McRocks?
