SIERRA VISTA — NerdWallet ranked Sierra Vista as one of the best small cities in the nation based on economic health, affordability and quality of life, in a study published on June 1.
Out of more than 1,300 cities with a population of less than 75,000, Sierra Vista is ranked 44, making it the top Arizona community on the list. The study ranked cities using data from the 2007 and 2013 American Community Survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau, giving equal weight to the three categories considered: affordability, economic health and quality of life.
“I’m not surprised to see our community recognized for what those of us who call it home already know — Sierra Vista is a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” Sierra Vista Mayor Rick Mueller says.
In an April, 2015 analysis, NerdWallet also ranked Sierra Vista as one of Arizona’s top 10 places for young families.
“Clearly, Sierra Vista is already on the radar,” says Assistant City Manager Mary Jacobs.
The key attributes identified by NerdWallet also surfaced in the City’s own recent community survey that is being used to develop a concise and memorable brand message.
“Sierra Vista is filling its economic development toolbox with vital elements like this research, along with the brand messaging and powerful collateral, all of which work in unison to help make our community vision a reality,” Jacobs says.

The one criteria/question that seems to always be left out of these rankings of places to live articles is, ‘how much influence do liberals have in the area’. I suspect that in the case of Sierra Vista, libtards are not a powerful voice in the community. THAT criteria alone should rank very high on the list for a conservative’s perspective.
I grew up in SoAz. SV is a company town. It lives or dies on what the US Army does/will do.
I’ll leave out the mass invasion happening in the A/O coming Mexico.
Otherwise, it is a nice area with many small towns with a bit of history - like Tombstone or Bisbee....
If it doesn’t have an active christian community, helping one another and living joyfully, it’s a pile of manure still, on its way to hopefully take this path.
There’s always a story in the criteria with these best places lists. To me, strong economy, low taxes, low crime and a mild temperate climate would matter most. Others have different priorities.

If ya don’t mind Mexican border in your backyard and living like a lizard about 5 months out of the year, it’s great.
