New York Dog Lunges in Front of Bus, Saves Blind Owner's Life

A golden retriever service dog named Figo saved a life when he leaped in front of a small school bus in an effort to protect his blind owner.

"I've seen dogs protect their owners when an intruder is coming at them, but not from an automobile," Brewster Village's chief of police John Del Gardo told ABC News. "I've never seen that before."

yeah, i love my little buddy. was home recovering from head injury for a number of years and he was my only buddy many days until other half got home from work. helped me through it. he dies for attention. unusual for a cat :)

The blind man was nearly dragged in front of the bus, but yanked the leash hard, and the dog tumbled back on top of him.
He dusted himself off, reached into his pocket, pulled out a Milkbone and waved it around.

A bystander exclaimed, “Mister, that dog almost killed you and you’re giving him a treat?!”
And he replied, “No. I’m trying to find his face so I can kick his butt.”

Many dogs live with a strong sense of purpose. You can see it in Border Collies, rounding up the sheep. That’s a highly energetic breed, that needs the regular stimulus of excitement due to being busy. Many people are that way as well, especially men, who thrive at work because they feel necessary.
