So far, however, the efficiency of this process, which is called counterfactual computation (CFC), has had an upper limit of 50%, limiting its practical applications.

It's a Schrödinger's Catputer using the unknown state as a flip-flop, by using quantum hocus-pocus (in a good way) they are able to increase the odds of knowing the on-off state, i.e. 0 or 1. Binary compute.
