Why not give one billion Chinese hackers a head start? THat said, I'm typing this on a Linux workstation; anybody, anywhere can have the source code.
LOL. this is why I distrust computerized slot machines.
I figure the government is smart enough to detect tampering with a mechanical machine. I have zero confidence they can detect tampering with a complex computerized system.
“I’m sorry. I can’t do that” as you give directions to go somewhere, the vehicle speeds up with car doors being locked down...
“At 6:32 am on September 25, 2015 you were observed posting anti-Islamic messages on www.freerepublic which is only one of 49 others dentified this year. Termination mode activated”.
That says it all. Wake me when a REAL incident occurs, not some contrived media event.

100 million lines of code for cars may just be sloppy programming.
Maybe a major global auto manufacturer could hide a chunk of code that would detect when a car is undergoing an emissions test and activate the power-robbing emission controls only when the car was under test. Then, on the open road, the car would have high performance, but spew emissions fifty times the legal limit.
Nah, too far fetched to even think as plausible.
What it really comes down to is that OUR BETTERS don’t want us little people hot rodding our cars by reprogramming the chips. That is the real hot rod scene right now, from the guys “coal rolling” their pickups to the hot hatchback guys and their superfast turbocharged GTIs, WRXs and Acuras.
