If anyone can help me make a car decision I would greatly appreciate it:)
I have to purchase a new (well, 1-3 year old) vehicle. My husband tends to hold on to our car until the very end (2001 Dodge Stratus that has served us well) So trans and exhaust broke on my way to work last week and we've test drove a few cars (in what little hours we have together that mesh) so it is now between the above mentioned 2 cars. The Nissan dealer will give us lifetime power train warranty and costs slightly more but the Cruze is more the size I'm comfortable with. It has a few more bells and whistles than the Altima but the center stack leaves no room to set my purse on when I need to find something in it. I drive expressway an hour every day and so need something with a bit of power (Sentra we tried today pretty well sucked at that.)
We don't want these to get sold out from under us so I need to make the choice...thanks in advance!
I can’t think of too many incidences where a Chevy or GM has been more reliable than a Nissan.
A lifetime warranty from the dealer good for the lifetime of the dealership.
I have had Chevys for years. Never had more than normal maintenance.
For a bunch of Love the USA, you guys love sending your money to Japan.
Had a 2004 Nissan Altima and put 240,000 miles on it before giving it to a friend. Had no major problems. Purchased a 2010 Altima as the replacement specifically for the reliability of the vehicle.
A lot of people on FR will tell you that the Cruze is not good and you should buy a Trump because it’s great
Neither.
No government motors no foreign.
Ford Fusion.
I’ll never buy another car from Government Motors.
Forget the "foreign vs. domestic argument" as it just does not hold water. If you popped the hood on just about any vehicle out there and removed the parts made in another country? You may as well drag what' s left out into a field and burn it.
Nissan.
Not even a real choice.
Get the Altima. The Cruz is not even in the same class. It is bottom of the line and built to be “disposable”. Don’t worry about driving a somewhat larger car you will quickly get use to it. Larger is safer.
I have a 2013 Altima and it’s been a great car, especially if you drive a lot. I average about 36 mpg and it’s a very comfortable car. I’ve put 65,000 miles on it with only a couple of small problems.
I bought a Nissan Rogue last year and I love it. Prior to that I had a Toyota and for years, several Subarus.
Last GM vehicle?- 1981. Next one?- Never
It's been maybe three years since I last drove an Altima, but the only grumble that I recall was the CVT, which was new to me and a bit annoying. Otherwise, it drove pretty well.
We love our Kia Soul. Plenty of headspace for tall hubby, and fun to drive for me.
GM is an outright Union built disaster waiting to happen. Freepers don’t let other Freepers buy GM.
Check your insurance rates before you buy. I know someone who bought a Cruze a few years ago and were shocked how much the insurance was. May have to do with repair cost or something.
Kia plant is in West Point, GA.
Hyundai plant is in Montgomery, AL.
Plants are just a little over an hour apart.
Just an FYI!!
If you own a Chevy Cruze, did you name it “Ted”?
