The cutoff date should be around December 15 or so instead of what? December 21?

Yesterday afternoon, an unmarked white panel truck rolled up in front of the house. The last UPS package showed up as scheduled. The other item, ordered at the same time, showed up about 4 days early. Free shipping from Walmart for both of them. (For one, the shipping probably cost as much as the full retail price of the item - Walmart may want to re-think their business model.)

I have to agree. I haven’t had any bad experiences with all 3. Amazon Prime is definitely the way to go. I ordered early and only had one foul up. One gift is lost in space but fortunately it isn’t a disaster. One gift certificate I ordered has failed to show but the seller promises me that the order is in his system.

We really are becoming a nation of twits. FedEx ruined your Christmas? Maybe your laziness and procrastination was a factor. As a brick and mortar retailer who will be closing this spring because of the Internet all I can say is boofreakinghoo on you.

I'm not so sure of all the boofreakinghoo in this country. MUCH of the "boofreakinghoo" comes from the media that tries EVERYTHING to come up with any ole "boofreakinghoo" story. The more hype the better, true or not. That's THEIR M.O.; always will be.

THAT'S where my money is: always on the ungodly, uncaring, ahole media ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Merry Christmas anyway.

Still bad weather in NE MS yesterday and today. We’ve got friends in the Delta who are currently in the ‘safe room’ at their local hospital.

I do Christmas shopping in August and September. Labor Day sales are a great time to Christmas shop. I want a RELAXED Christmas week to bake treats and do stuff besides worry about whether this or that will still be in stock or get here in time.

USPS is chaotic too, I’m still waiting for several orders.

They used to hire helpers out of the unemployment offices for a fair wage ... temporary and a guarantee you will not be considered for full time employment ... but for a month or so, you got no sleep and made a lot of money

Something interfered with THAT structure.

If they offer the service it’s reasonable to expect them to deliver. But, with basically no margin for error it’s going to be difficult to always deliver, so depending upon it for a must-have delivery is not a good idea. The overnight and even same-day services have painted themselves into a corner.

'Thanks to @FedEx we'll be one gift short for Joseph's first christmas!!'

Let's ask Joseph if knows what Christmas is. Maybe if these procrastinators hadn't placed last minute orders, they might have received them on time.

the folks that work for fedex and ups and usps work their butts off right before Christmas and i really feel sorry for them.

idiots that order crap a couple of days before Christmas deserve whatever happens to them. How hard is it to order stuff a couple of weeks (or more) before Christmas?

That is usually the case. However this year multiple family members had things that missed the big day. Not a problem for us, I had all the little ones stuff weeks ago, and the adults understand......

But they are going to have to up their game next year big time

I did the majority of my shopping online this year. It was a breeze for the most part. the brick-n-mortar stores didn’t have anything in stock to buy, so online was the only choice. The only screwup seems to be one b-n-m store whose online screwed up, but overall the experience was far better than driving and hustling everywhere.

Only in America do people complain about not getting GIFTS.

If it was that important they would have ordered a few days earlier.

My estimation is that actual on-site sales like at Malls and stores are wayyy down. Most people have opted for Online sales, and for me the Amazon Prime free shipping on most items is a definite plus.

I think the economy still sucks and people have been studying alternatives, and gas, time, trouble to go out and pay too much has been replaced by smart sales online. To me, it’s the wave of the future, frankly.

This is just news ginning up something to complain about. That is what unredeemed people do. They never see the silver linings, only the clouds.

Anyone really grateful for Christmas and what it means, wouldn’t be all that perturbed about a few days delay. Send it into extra innings, as it were.

And as for your situation, if you cannot lick them then why not join them. Vend your wares in the cyber world.
