We really are becoming a nation of twits. FedEx ruined your Christmas? Maybe your laziness and procrastination was a factor. As a brick and mortar retailer who will be closing this spring because of the Internet all I can say is boofreakinghoo on you.

Actually, my experience with the big three (FedEx, UPS and even the USPS) is that around this time of year, I’ll get stuff EARLIER than even scheduled.

I use Amazon Prime for mostly everything now, and I always get deliveries on time or even earlier than planned. YMMV.

If they paid for expedited shipping that the company guaranteed, I’d be ticked also. If not, then suck it up Sally and plan better next year!

People literally ordering on Christmas Eve and expecting their stuff to be set under the tree on Christmas morning.

Tip: Always order online on Thursdays! Your stuff gets processed over the weekend and ship on Monday am!

procrastination.

Not sure but I think FedEx provides a cut off date to ship in order to get to a destination on time.

Btw, the lots of brick and mortar retailer near us have gone under too. The rents/leases are punitive.

I expect some liberal running for office will call for a congressional investigation.

infuriating scores of customers whose festive plans are now ruined

If your "festive" plans are ruined by the absence of stuff, the celebration has nothing to do with Jesus. My plans might be ruined by the absence of a family member (it happened with pneumonia and a multi-drug resistant staph infection a couple years ago), but never by the absence of a gift.

FedEx was stymied by a line of thunderstorms Wednesday that dropped several tornadoes in NW, NE, Mississippi and West, Central and East Tennessee. They had to scramble around 24 hours of really bad weather. What’s more important, the lives of the pilots or getting there on time?

Yesterday afternoon, an unmarked white panel truck rolled up in front of the house. The last UPS package showed up as scheduled. The other item, ordered at the same time, showed up about 4 days early. Free shipping from Walmart for both of them. (For one, the shipping probably cost as much as the full retail price of the item - Walmart may want to re-think their business model.)

I'm not so sure of all the boofreakinghoo in this country. MUCH of the "boofreakinghoo" comes from the media that tries EVERYTHING to come up with any ole "boofreakinghoo" story. The more hype the better, true or not. That's THEIR M.O.; always will be.

THAT'S where my money is: always on the ungodly, uncaring, ahole media ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Merry Christmas anyway.

They used to hire helpers out of the unemployment offices for a fair wage ... temporary and a guarantee you will not be considered for full time employment ... but for a month or so, you got no sleep and made a lot of money

Something interfered with THAT structure.

If they offer the service it’s reasonable to expect them to deliver. But, with basically no margin for error it’s going to be difficult to always deliver, so depending upon it for a must-have delivery is not a good idea. The overnight and even same-day services have painted themselves into a corner.

'Thanks to @FedEx we'll be one gift short for Joseph's first christmas!!'

Let's ask Joseph if knows what Christmas is. Maybe if these procrastinators hadn't placed last minute orders, they might have received them on time.
