Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy said Monday that the occupation at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge would continue.
In a notarized letter from Clark County, Nevada, Bundy wrote to Harney County Sheriff David Ward that "We the people of Harney County and also we the People of the citizens of United States DO GIVE NOTICE THAT WE WILL RETAIN POSSESSION OF THE HARNEY COUNTY RESOURCE CENTER (Malheur (sic) National Wildlife Refuge)."
The letter was also sent by certified mail to Oregon Gov. Kate Brown and President Barack Obama.
"Remove all federal and state policing agents out of Harney County," Bundy wrote. "Place a Harney County sheriff guard post at the entrance road of the Harney County Resource Center stopping all from entering or exiting, for a time."
The attorney for Cliven's son, Ammon Bundy, wouldn't comment on the letter.
But in the last week, Ammon Bundy and his counsel have repeatedly called for an end to the occupation.
"I have asked those people at the refuge to go home," Bundy told a federal judge in court Friday. "This was never about an armed standoff."
A person reached at Cliven Bundy's ranch Monday confirmed the authenticity of the letter but said the elder Bundy was taking calls from "fellow patriots"....

There was a big gathering of patriots in Burns, OR today and a gathering calling itself 'pro law enforcement' in support of the government side.
Plenty of shouting between the sides. Streaming audio of the events is very fragmented and confusing at this point.
Amanda Peacher, a reporter for Oregon Public Broadcasting noticed that the BLM headquarters near Burns is now sporting a Gadsden Flag underneath the American flag. She posted a pic on Twitter. What gives?
How could he do anything else? I’m sure LaVoy Finicum wouldn’t want them to give up.

A Las Vegas TV station spoke with Cliven Bundy last week and his opinion was that:
“I’ll tell you one this we are going to have to fight this battle over and over not giving up today. We got a life lost. That life will not be wasted.”
No wonder we have word of this letter today.

Late Sunday night the Gadsden “Don’t Tread On Me†flag suddenly appeared at the Bureau of Land Management building outside of Hines, Oregon. The flag was hanging below the U.S. flag on the agency flagpole shortly before midnight. Law enforcement arrived shortly after people began to notice it. The flag wasn’t present Monday morning.
The flag was designed by American general Christopher Gadsden during the American Revolution, and now is often associated with anti-federal government political movements.

This mans death is a travesty.
I have watched the video of the shooting many times and I would like to know exactly what type of firearm or device the shooter on the left side had.
I do not think Finicum did anything but react to being shot 9 times.
OK, got the two mixed.
Hard to watch. America and ‘Americna’ is being puposely killed by a thousand cuts by those in charge of the government.
He didn't stop his truck the first time the police ordered him to stop. (The other vehicle did, and none of its occupants were shot.)
He tried to evade the second road block. He still wasn't shot.
He got out of the truck and walked towards the cops. He still wasn't shot.
He reached towards his left pocket. Only then did he get shot.
The other 7 protesters were all taken alive. Finicum had said, publicly, many times, that he would rather die than go to jail. He got his wish.
True, but this won't help the sons when they seek bail from the judge tomorrow. (The Magistrate already denied them bail, but they are appealing to the district judge tomorrow.)
