Felony charge after driver pulled over with phony license plate

The Erie County Sheriff's deputy was patrolling in Springville when he noticed a woman driving a car with a missing front license plate and a rear plate that was "obviously an imitation New York license plate," the sheriff's department wrote in a Facebook post.

The license plate was made of cardboard and painted to replicate a New York plate, police say. The driver, Amanda Schweickert, 28, was allegedly operating the vehicle with a suspended registration and without insurance.

Schweickert was arrested and charged with a felony count of possessing a forged instrument, a misdemeanor count of operating a vehicle with a suspend registration and three vehicle and traffic infractions, police say.

Either he wanted to become famous or he didn’t know what a color photocopier could do.

If the car isn’t stolen, the felony charge is pushing it a little.

What I was thinking. Felony seems a bit much. Not like he was cranking out $20 bills.

the sheriff's department wrote in a Facebook post

Do the LEOs have nothing better to do than social media?

It appears that some have a lot longer road to travel before they can be called intelligent.

-If the car isn’t stolen, the felony charge is pushing it a little.-

A man I know got a ticket for illegal trash burning by an EPA officer. (There are four EPA agencies in my county, Federal, State, County and City. County and City are self funded, meaning the guy who writes a ticket is making his own salary. They have oodles of rules and everybody is in violation of at least one for 15 minutes each day.) The ticket counted as a felony arrest. To induce him to pay the fine, which he couldn’t afford, the judge offered to waive the felony arrest part. But he had to pay the fine and enter a crime prevention program, which he also had to pay for. Since he could not afford the fine or the program he lost his driver-s license, which is how they enforce paying their fines. Now he is a welfare queen. He says he is living much better than when he was driving himself to work every day.

Well, it looks OK to me. Can a guy be convicted if the jury is laughing too hard to render a verdict?

When you register something, anything, what you’re doing is basically giving it to the Regis - or King (Or state)
You can hold onto it, which is Title (Not deed) but when the state wants it, they’ll take it.

The automobile was a great possession to hold above the heads of the Serf. Without it, you’re toast.

So by registering your car you’re giving the state the ability to take it whenever they please.

Sure, but I bet if the trooper stopped an illegal alien he’d have let him/her off with a stern warning.
