You know the score about Donald Trump, right? He "is playing directly to authoritarian inclinations," says Ph.D. student Matthew MacWilliams in Politico, who cites the way Trump voters rally around, among things, proposals to ban Muslims and deport illegal immigrants.
"Authoritarians obey," writes MacWilliams, who sampled 1,800 voters back in December. "They rally to and follow strong leaders. And they respond aggressively to outsiders, especially when they feel threatened."
Not so fast, say political scientists Wendy Rahn and Eric Oliver, who did their own survey and argue that Trump's followers aren't particularly authoritarian but populist in inclination.

Cruz supporters seem to be mostly Dominionists and Mormonist which can explain that. Trup rallies are free flowing. I have Glenn Beck’s Blaze TV on my FiOS service and the the concerts (or whatever it is that Glenn Beck is doing) where he goes over his ideology seems like some weird mutation of political church.

Like it’s a bad thing. The “pursuit of happiness” is not defined by the pursuit of every passion under the sun. It’s called “being responsible and growing up.” Trump and his band of merry yo-yo’s seem to have a slight problem with that.

In some Mainstream Media reporting, Trump voters are more likely to kill kittens, while Cruz voters are more likely to trip little old ladies.
Conversely, in other Mainstream Media reports, Trump voters are likely to steal candy from children, while Cruz voters fart in church.

Many Cruz supporters think there are limits to free speech and private property.
