Bruce Springsteen will no longer be performing in North Carolina this weekend.
In response to the state's passage of the controversial House Bill 2 -- often referred to as the "bathroom law" -- the "Born in the U.S.A." rocker announced in a statement to fans that he is canceling his concert on Sunday in Greensboro in support of the LGBT community.
Saying that the law "dictates which bathrooms transgender people are permitted to use," the statement noted,"The law also attacks the rights of LGBT citizens to sue when their human rights are violated in the workplace. No other group of North Carolinians faces such a burden."

"To my mind, its an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress," the 66-year-old musician continued. "Right now, there are many groups, businesses, and individuals in North Carolina working to oppose and overcome these negative developments."
"Taking all of this into account, I feel that this is a time for me and the band to show solidarity for those freedom fighters," he added. "As a result, and with deepest apologies to our dedicated fans in Greensboro, we have canceled our show scheduled for Sunday, April 10th."

Well, his first name is Bruce.
Maybe he will play a concert in Cuba instead.
Springsteen was a fdrq anyway
I knew there was a reason that I didn’t like “The Boss.” He can go to hell for all I care. I never got the hysteria over this leftist a-hole.
Asheville is a beautiful place - but it is infested with liberals, wiccans and such. Didn’t used to be that way. Don’t know what happened.
Springsteen has New York values.
Mr. civil libertarian Bruce Springsteen...
Born down in a dead man’s town
The first kick I took was when I hit the ground
End up like a dog that’s been beat too much
Till you spend half your life just covering up
Born in the U.S.A., I was born in the U.S.A.
I was born in the U.S.A., born in the U.S.A.
Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man...
Been to NC several times, have family just outside Fayetteville. Favorite beach... Top Sail, although the house we used to rent isn’t available anymore sue to hurricane damage and so the last few trips we made out, we camped at Myrtle Beach just across the border.
Mountains, valleys, sandy hills & beaches ... what more could a person want. We have stayed in all locations and have always loved every minute we have been there.
ps... did I forget to mention we are Nascar fans!
It’s a really pretty state.
Topsail gets it the worst as far as beach erosion when a storm comes through.
so did the lower half of the house. They used to rent out the upper level and now they live in it, so no more renting. But the atmosphere there was amazing and so were the small mom & pop pub & grills. Since then we have all purchased campers and so when we go out there, we all go as a group for a week's stay at Myrtle Beach. It's ok, but just not the same as Top Sail. The last time we were there was in 2004 & we sure miss it.
We had never driven the Pacific Coast highway. Been to Cali nearly weekly for decades, but semi trucks are a no no, so the only part we have gotten close is at Marina. so we were looking forward to making that our trip this year, but may have to put it off again and show our support for the state who actually stands up for our founding principles.
Its a really pretty state
...Pretty Amazing! Awesome views no matter where one drives! It is like a little mini-me USA all rolled up into one state. How amazing is that!!!
Bruce Stinkweed is still out there running his lefty mouf, eh?
I did not know that. I can’t stand that twit. I have one of the most awesome music collections known to humankind, but I don’t have a single song that idjit wrote, performed on or had squat to do with.
Accident? Possibly, but I doubt it.
That’s the spirit. Support NC via your (our) tourism dollars! And having a good vacation too.
I boycotted him years ago - besides the fact that his music went “pop” (i.e, suck) in the 80s, I went to one of his concerts in the late 80s. The concert was on the night before Easter Sunday, and he decided to mock religion during the concert - he referred to the only religion that counted as the “religion of rock and roll”
Ever since - if he even comes on the radio, I turn it off or change the channel. If he doesn’t come to NC, that is our gain.
