Discovery came just hours after 50 were killed in worst mass shooting in US history at Orlando gay club

Authorities received report of a suspected prowler in Santa Monica

Three rifles and a substantial amount of ammunition was found in his car

Police have identified the man as James Howell

Tannerite, an ingredient used to make pipe bombs, was also discovered

Also found gun magazines loaded, taped together and a security badge

Mayor Eric Garcetti said it is believed the man is completely unrelated to the Orlando massacre

Santa Monica Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks initially said on Twitter 
that the 20-year-old man told one of her officers after he was arrested 
that he wanted “to harm Gay Pride event.”

But Lt. Saul Rodriguez said later the tweet was a misstatement. 
He said the suspect told investigators that he was going to the Pride festival 
but said he did not make additional statements about his intentions.

"It was a misstatement," Rodriguez said. "Unfortunately, she was given incorrect information 
initially which indicated that that statement was made, however, that statement never was made. 
He did indicate that he was planning on going to the Pride festival 
but beyond anything as far as  motives or his intentions that statement 
was never made nor did any officer receive that statement."


He only said HE WAS GOING to the gay pride parade.

And isn't this hand gesture a gay-pride thing? His jammies sure do look gay...

BUT I would not be AT ALL surprised if the democRATS play up this guy as a Trump-loving white-guy bent on destroying gays.

I think local press figured out this was a non-story when they saw Santa Monica’s evidence truck pull up and start printing the ‘scene.’ This is after the alphabet crew came by and reports ‘leaked’ about how the FBI was taking over the investigation.

Since the alphabets (ATF, FBI, etc) pulled out so quickly, this is really looking like someone who didn’t know California’s draconian gun laws who likely was meeting up with someone they’ve never met in person to hook up for the gay pride parade.

It would not surprise me if in the coming 24 hours we find out he’s gay, and on Tuesday, that a multi-million dollar lawsuit is being filed against the city.

The whole Santa Monica thing may turn out to be a bit nothing, but we’ll see.

The left was in such a hurry to try to spin this to blunt coverage of Orlando that the VERY liberal Santa Monica PD (that city is literally run by commies now (-it’s the city Jane Fonda and Tom Hayden took over in the 70s) that they put out a story that “he wanted to harm the W. Hollywood parade.”
Well, they have now retracted that statement saying “That was wrong, we jumped the gun and the suspect didn’t say that, just said he was going there.” Who knows. It’s weird—he apparently had some explosive but it is typically used to make exploding targets. You know the press-said he had 5 pounds, may turn out to be 1 oz. No way to really tell yet.

I have no idea what the guy was up to, but anything is possible, all the way from a foiled massacre to a guy going out to shoot. He was knocking on doors in the neighborhood when he was detained—what’s that all about? Was he picking somebody up? We’ll see, but the left want him to be the story.

Somebody put up a tweet or FB posting (again, no idea it it’s legit) where the guy is talking to a friend and they are wondering who to vote for, and suspect says something like “Just vote for Sanders, he’s doesn’t look like Hitler like the other candidates.”
This was sometime during the primaries, earlier on I think. We’ll just have to wait and see what if any charges they end up filing.
