The local authorities in Nice have refused a request by French anti-terror police to destroy CCTV images of last week's lorry attack.
The Paris prosecutor's office said the request had been made to avoid the "uncontrolled dissemination" of images.
But officials in Nice have responded by filing a legal document, arguing the footage could constitute evidence.
It is the latest evidence of a growing dispute between the local and national authorities in the wake of the attack.
More than 80 people died when a Tunisian man, Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, ploughed a lorry into crowds out celebrating Bastille Day on 14 July.
The attack, which targeted crowds celebrating Bastille Day, has been claimed by so-called Islamic State (IS).
President Francois Hollande announced on Friday that France would send artillery to Iraq next month for the fight against IS.
France has been conducting air strikes against IS and providing military training but is not committing ground troops.
In the aftermath of the attack in Nice, disagreements have emerged over the scale of police and security force protection around the Promenade des Anglais at the time the attack took place.

This request was by the same sort of people that worked to hide the dissemination of 9/11 images and all the other images of the execution and aftermath of every MUSLIM Terrorist action in this world. They are likely not Muslims doing this quisling treachery, but they are sympathizers.
Sympathizers who will not protect you, get justice for you or avenge you. If they are in charge, you are own your own.

What I don’t understand is how the police didn’t realize that a truck without refrigeration could deliver ice cream.
They might be afraid of video surfacing showing the truck driver shaking hands with police after he parked his truck at the staging point.
More likely it shows the truck trolling back and forth about ten times in the 24 hours prior to the attack, and those images would be highly embarrassing.

Like what Trump said in his speech. We need the truth. Not somebody’s interpretation or censorship of it. The Truth. We are smart enough to make our own interpretations from the truth when we see it.
Those that hide the truth of what terrorism shows are indeed terrorists themselves. It is as simple as that.

Would a member of a victim’s family want a video of their family member mowed down to get out on the internet?
They want to minimize public outrage over the attack. They are protecting the action of the muslim savage who killed children in cold blood to gain favor with satin.

Dallas police just claimed that the downtown spy cameras malfunctioned that night and any video which is not consistent with the ‘lone gunman’ theory and which would support claims of multiple gunmen is just blurry and unusable.
They couldn’t stop the attack, now they don’t want to be reminded of it.
Definitely, if it meant helping to prevent someone else from losing a family member to an islamic murderer.
