ISIS Exposes the True Reason Why It Hates the West
American Thinker ^ | 19 Aug, 2016 | Raymond Ibrahim

An old (and tiresome) debate appears to have been settled by those best positioned to settle it. According to Andrew Gripp, a former political science professor:

Since 9/11, one of the defining fault lines in American and Western politics has concerned whether jihadist groups such as al-Qaeda and ISIS are motivated by their religion or by politics – or more specifically, by grievances against Western foreign policy. Some insist that Islamic doctrine is the basis of their violence, while others insist that such groups are not truly Islamic, but are instead using the guise of religion to lash out against Western influence and intervention.

After indicating how "jihadist groups' political behavior is consistently traceable to their beliefs about what the Quran, hadith, and respected commentaries say they have a divine injunction to do," Gripp writes:

For years, however, making this case has been a challenge. This is in part because al-Qaeda was intentionally speaking to both sides in this debate. As the scholar Raymond Ibrahim demonstrates in The Al Qaeda Reader, the terrorist group would regularly frame its grievances in political terms when broadcasting its message to the West (so as to insinuate that once the West withdrew, peace would come). Yet when speaking to the Muslim world, the group would make highly sophisticated religious arguments, explaining why its actions, however reprehensible on their face, were in fact justified by a close reading of the holy texts.

Given that Islam is both religion and political system it can be both at the same time.

You don’t have their politics without the specific demands of their religion.

This is shown best, not by AQ or IS, but by how the OIC defines such terms as terrorism or oppression by sharia so that the way they use them draws a distinction between things done to Muslims (without right) and anything done to non-Muslims.

Because we will not submit or die.

All muslims are religiously obligated to seek world domination of Islam by subjugating, converting or killing everyone else on the planet.
If they are faithful followers of their prophet and follow his example, they are a threat to all of us.
According to their book, there can be no peace until there is only Islam.
The reverse of that is there can only be peace when there is no Islam.

That is the real choice we face.

Yes, they hate us because of their religion; however, our foreign policy of toppling regimes has lead to the growth of ISIS. The Ba’ath party killed a lot of jihadists in its time.

Actually, Muslim fundamentalist, at least those calling the shots, are often among Islam’s best and brightest. They are not crazy, they labor under the influence of an evil that they try to rationally apply to their lives. This makes them more dangerous, not less.

Yes, there are many Islamic crazies ... they are the useful idiots to those who aren’t crazy.

If you want to talk crazy, though, you need to really look towards non-Muslim Islamopologists in the West,

I won’t argue the non-Muslim Islamopologist part, but I will forever maintain, regardless of education, profession or intelligence maintain they are absolutely insane.

Back in the late 60s I was trained to be a Peace Corps volunteer in Afghanistan. We were told that no matter what we would be doing (teaching, medicine, construction, providing clean water, etc.) our number one opponent would be the local mullah. Anything more modern than the 7th century had to be opposed because it was ‘unislamic’ (religion) and it weakened his control over his flock (politics). Reminds me of depictions of the African medicine man opposing the western doctor in those old movies that can’t be shown anymore. Of course we now know that all cultures (except Western) are equal and must be celebrated and accepted.

In the meantime, they get it both ways. They act like a political group of violence and hatred but are being protected like a religion. Someone said you can’t have it both ways. Well..........they are thanks to our government stupidity.

I don’t think our government is stupid. I think they have similar ides of world domination with the muslims. They just naively think they can deal with the muslims when they get there.

“Crazy insane ones who have no more compassion or intelligence than a monkey.”

Don’t come down too hard on monkeys. If you’re nice to them, they usually reciprocate. That, BTW, is also linked to intelligence. It is a simple thing, really: “Gee, this person was nice to me. If I act in a similar manner to this person, maybe they will be nice to me again.” Even a monkey knows that (heck, my dog knows that, and it didn’t take all that long for her to figure it out, either).

Meanwhile, if you’re nice to some Moslems, the best that you can hope for is that they’ll use a sharp knife when slicing off your head at the first opportunity.

Of course, I guess there’s that.....I hear they are ‘humane’ when they butcher cattle to eat, right? Something about prayers or something?

I guess I think our government is stupid is based upon the theory they are using with islamic terrorists. To try to reason with people that have such a limited opinion of their lives is like trying to reason with rabid animals. When you run across a person whose only desire is to force you to join his/her religion, will threaten and kill your whole family to make you, and doesn’t care if he dies or not to get it done and thinks he/she is being rewarded to take you with him/her, then you are not real smart, are you? The only possible smart thing the government does is that they are gambling someone will kill other people and not them. Does that make them smart? No, it adds a new term a$$half.

Webster’s dictionary definition of stupid is :
a : slow of mind :
b : given to unintelligent decisions or acts : acting in an unintelligent or careless manner
c : lacking intelligence or reason

Please pick one.
