Huffington Post Complains New Movie “Bridget Jones’s Baby” Doesn’t Promote Abortion as an Option

Huffington Post film reviewer Laura Goldman generally liked the new romantic comedy “Bridget Jone’s Baby,” but she had one problem: It doesn’t promote abortion.

Goldman’s movie review read more like an advocacy piece for abortion. She argued that the comedy, the third in the Bridget Jones series, should have mentioned abortion because the pregnant 40-something main character would have considered it in real life.

She wrote:

“Bridget Jones’s Baby,” deftly written, generates a belly laugh a minute. The one flaw of the movie is that it overdoses on cuteness instead of taking the braver path of discussing birth control and abortion on screen. Yes, the plot of the movie required that Bridget get pregnant, yet she could have discussed or planned more responsible contraception than 10-year-old vegan condoms found in the bottom of her bag. Or in a novel twist, the horny males could have tried and failed to take responsibility for preventing pregnancy. It certainly would have been in character for the uptight Mr. Darcy.

There’s one crucial word missing from the Bridget Jones script-abortion. It is absolutely inconceivable that Bridget, a single 43-year-old pregnant woman, never considers terminating her pregnancy even if she eventually rejected it. The screenwriters of the film should have had her discuss it with her doctor or could have opted for the less in your face route of having Bridget write about it in her diary, which is now an iPad. It is 2016 not 1950. It is okay for a 43-year-old single woman to fear she can’t handle a baby on her own and consider terminating her pregnancy.

Goldman’s piece fit in with abortion activists’ on-going campaign to demand societal acceptance of abortion. The entertainment industry is just one way that they are trying to push their messaging, and they get upset when it doesn’t toe the line. For example, abortion activists were quick to criticize popular comedy actress and writer Mindy Kaling, a Planned Parenthood supporter, in 2014 when she said the topic of abortion would be “demeaning” for her half-hour sitcom. Under pressure from the pro-abortion lobby, she later apologized.

Abortion activists want the entertainment industry to push their pro-abortion messaging even more than it already does. In the past few years, popular TV shows and movies, including several billed as comedies, have touted the pro-abortion agenda.

Last November, the ABC show “Scandal” shocked many viewers when it glorified a main character’s abortion. The show had one of the main characters smile as she aborted her unborn baby, while “Silent Night” played in the background. Planned Parenthood and other abortion groups praised the show for being “groundbreaking,” “brave” and “awesome.” And the Huffington Post lauded the show for portraying an abortion as “no big deal.”

Abortion is a big deal for most women and always for their unborn babies. Unborn babies die horrible, painful deaths in abortion procedures every day, and millions of women suffer from years of pain and regret afterward. But these heart-wrenching stories are the ones that never get told in the media.

The upshot of the piece seems to be that those at Huffington can’t wrap their minds around the fact that some women don’t/won’t even CONSIDER abortion.

Says a lot about Huffington - and contemporary Western culture.

If it’s not Jurassic Park or Star Wars odds are I’ve not seen it. Soo..Yes I have not seen it. Have no idea what it’s about. The left thinks everything about women should include abortion. Well some women want their babies and they can’t comprehend that.

How about if one of you feminazi abortions lovers explain to me why you are so in love with abortion? You don’t just want it as an option, you love it and you actively promote it. You celebrate it.
Why? that is contrary to human nature.

>>Anybody got a problem with that?<<

A movie about a woman who doesn’t know who the father is? No thanks. I see enough sluts on TV.

>>And GOOD for them for not mentioning murder in the movie!<<

Doesn’t undo my original point.

Shut up Huffy! Film is art and the producers & director has the right to express limit what they want in their film.

Because the left is about hate and destroying that which is different from them. Abortion gives feminazis power and control over men in an incredibly powerful way. The man has absolutely no legal say in whether his child is murdered or not. It’s one of the most unequal positions of power women are given in our country. Feminazis have no greater symbol of their success at gaining more power than men in our country than abortion. It’s a vile, evil act which steals rightful power away from men that they have put into law.

I haven’t seen any of the Bridget Jones movies. So can’t comment too much. But I think its very odd that liberals would be upset that she didn’t consider abortion.

And, aren’t these movies lightheaded romantic comedy type movies??? If so, I’m doubly frustrated that the liberals are upset that a movie doesn’t make a political statement. Sheesh......I’ll never understand liberals.

BTW, all you holier than thou, have you ever enjoyed “Baby it’s cold outside”, the christmas song.

It’s blatantly about aman trying to talk his way into spending the night at a woman’s house, and let’s not be naive for what purpose.

So if you have a problem with my going to see this new movie, you are a hypocrite if you listen to this song.

Nothing loses more votes for republicans than stick up the A@@ republicans who are so sanctimonious.

Yeah, premarital sex obviously happened as she is pregnant.

I’ll burn in hell for eternity for seeing this movie.

You’re right /s

In these modern times why is anyone promoting abortion. Lets take out the moral issue altogether. And I think there is a very large moral issue. But for those who don’t mind killing helpless babies, lets entertain an argument for them. Why abort a baby?

We need babies. We like babies. There is no stigma associated with babies out of wedlock. Its done all the time. The Supreme’s song, Love Child, sounds so out of date. And now we Oprah, Steve Jobs, and Obama as examples that poor white, black or mixed race children born to young mothers can grow up just fine. Babies and mothers are not compromised by fact that the child is not planned.

Now it helps to have two parents. And it helps to have a father and a mother. But surely we don’t go around killing children of divorces. And don’t the business’s of America want the future American workers. And don’t the grandparents of the world want more grandchildren.

I for one have told my four daughters, they should have children when they are married. But if they find themselves in a situation where they have a baby before a husband, I will make that the happiest baby that ever lived. I maybe 55, but my wife and I have nothing better to do than to raise, or help raise a grandchild.

The first book was hilarious! You should read it if you haven’t already!!
